Tasty! - Edit
This was probably the best place I ate in Azerbaijan. It gives you a good taste for local food (you must try the pumpkin kutabs!) and has a cozy interior. Would go again!

Nice vegan cafe in Baku - Edit
Very cute and cosy cafe in Baku, probably the only fully vegan place. A lot of different options and a nice atmosphere. Unfortunately, they hardly had any of the desserts listed on their menu, the first time we managed to get the last slice of cheesecake, the second time they only has space balls and chocolate bars left. The "chocolate" bar was probably the biggest disappointment, not a hint of chocolate in it, just a kind of cereal bar. The rest of the food was really good though, my personal favourite was the lentil soup.
Read moreIn terms of service, the first time was great, the second time (different waitress) we were completely ignored once we'd ordered, the empty dishes were left until after we left, we had to fight for her attention every single time, even for paying.
All in all, a really cute cafe with lots of different options, the "chocolate" bar should not be named that, the view from the cafe is amazing, the rooftop terrace too. Would recommend but would like to see more of the desserts available and service depends on who's shift it is

Delicious vegan Azerbaijani food! - Edit
Really delicious food, nice cosy ambience. Staff was nice and the prices were decent. A bit sad that there were out of dessert but regardless, all the food we tried was great! A bit hard to find, felt like we were trespassing into someone's home 🙃 But once we got to the top, it looked like a house in Baku's Old city that was repurposed into a cafe.

So good! - Edit
Super highly recommend! It's currently the only vegan restaurant in Baku but we were more than happy to come here four times in one week. It's just amazing.
Read moreThe Arabian bowl is to die for. I don't know what they do with the potatoes in it but I think they're the best potatoes I've ever eaten. The kutabs (local pancake things) are very tasty too.
Staff are lovely as well and the ambiance is great. Loved the rooftop area too.
Can't fault anything😄

Huge portions, high quality ingredients, great variety, delicious, phenomenal views. I’ve traveled to Azerbaijan several times for work, and always make a point to travel the old city to go to Manipura. Great decor, sweet family run spot.

Amazing veggie wrap (green döner) & dolmas - Edit
Ate here a few times and have very warm memories of the place as well as the food.
Read moreEverything we tried here was excellent. In particular, a dish that was seriously outstanding was their veggie wrap, we tried several of them and I think the one I am raving about is called “green döner”. Seriously good.
We also placed an order to try their different dolmas (which need to be preordered one day before) and it’s well worth the extra effort.

Worth the search - Edit
Wandering the half deserted streets for this - asking directions from a series of local residents - was like a short film. The night was cold on the roof but with beautiful views. The food is carefully put together and effortful and there’s a fun selection. Baku has limited vegan options so this is a lovely place to support. The waitering staff were very friendly. Thank you.

AMAZING VEGAN RESTAURANT - Edit
The food was jaw dropping and delicious. It is way better than I expected. Yesterday I ordered Spaghetti with tomato sauce and pesto sauce and one Falafel Roll and they were both amazing. One Falafel roll was enough to make anyone full but today I will order 2 because I love it so much. Thank you for making a vegan restaurant here in Azerbaijan. It was hard for me to find any vegan restaurants here so I had to go find veggie options in regular restaurants. I really appreciate the amazing food and very kind service, Thank you!

Great vegan food in the heart of the old city. - Edit
Great food and service here, and very reasonable prices. I found it hard to get decent and cheap vegan food in Baku, so I ended up coming here every night I was in the city. I tried the wraps with falafel and the vegan doner, and also one of the salads, which were all delicious, but also the teas were very good and are served with a nice vegan sweet. There's a really nice spot to sit outside on the veranda, and you have great views over towards the flame towers.
Read moreIt is difficult to find, but does still exist. The location on the map on this website is correct, but if you search it on Google Maps you might still get the wrong location as it has moved again recently. Now it is down a quiet side-street. There'll be a small sign on the door saying "Mantra Space Ethic Food Music Art". When you enter the building, climb up the flight of stairs to the art gallery, and walk to the second room on the right - from there, there should be a sign for Manipura at the bottom of another flight of stairs. Climb those, and you're there. It's definitely worth seeking out!

Pretty sure it's not there anymore - Edit
The place was really impossible to find. I used all the clues I could find from Google and Happy Cow reviews. I never found the narrow white sign. At the location where I thought Manipura should be, I found a sign for Mantra Space Ethic Food Music Art, and there were a few steps down to a basement area which matched one reviewer's description of Manipura. But the basement area was blocked off. Upstairs was a small art gallery, no evidence of any food being made or served. There was nobody around to ask anything. So I left, hangry.

I was just there last week - it isn't very clear, but it is still there. Upstairs, where the art gallery is, if you enter the second room on the right, there should be a big sign for Manipura next to another flight of stairs which leads to the restaurant.
Read moreI believe it has moved again since the previous reviews were made. So you don't go downstairs.

Delicious food, great service! - Edit
As stated above! It was a little tricky to find at first but we used pictures from Google to help us figure out where it was: If looking at the little square/open area, walk to the middle of the shop fronts and look for the slim white vertical Manipura sign and walk down the little staircase 😊

Great place - Edit
We were so grateful for this place whilst staying in Baku- as it’s the only place we found to get vegan food we ate here every meal.
Read moreThe only disappointment is that they can be quite unreliable for opening on time; it says 8.30 everywhere and we went for breakfast one day at 9 but they weren’t opening till 10, and another day they weren’t opening till 2pm. Aside from that the food is great, most dishes are generous portions and the prices are really affordable (eg: 6 manat for pancakes/ 8 manat for pasta) The menu needs some work though as there is no description of what anything is/ if it’s suitable for evening meal or a snack, and no where does it specify what is vegan (but don’t worry everything is) Overall I would definitely recommend going.
Pros: Vegan pancakes for breakfast!

Amazing find in the Old Town - Edit
Everything on the menu is vegan and although there no description of what each dish is, the staff were happy to describe everything for us. We ate here everyday during our visit to Baku and loved it! The chocolate cake is amazing and our favorites food wise was the Mac and cheese, club sandwich and avocado toast. The coffee isn't great but the food and deserts are all amazing. Super affordable prices and great location beside muse Cafe right inside the old city walls.

Great food! - Edit
We ate three days in a row at Manipura and it was great! The food is healthy and tasty, my father (meateater!) ordered the Arabian Shiva Bowl every evening and loved it. We also really liked the tomate soup and the Shahi Doner. And I really recommend the chocolate space balls, too. We would definitely come back the next time visiting Baku!:)
