My favorite restaurant in Heidelberg

This restaurant is a gem. Where to start? Well, of course, the food. The restaurant is fully vegetarian with all dishes being easily veganizable. Some desserts are vegan, and the owners seem very responsive to adding more (e.g. stocking vegan ice cream more regularly with their baklava) if they get demand. The flavors are beautifully done, with every bite exploding with a great blend of savory, sweet, and salty, plus accents like zesty and sour flavors. They use fresh cooking and make everything fresh for you, so the entrees do take a bit of time (~10-20 minutes). They were very knowledgeable about what was vegan and even proactively offered to not only omit the cheese but also replace it with extra falafel and sweet potatoes (something you almost never see). Really enjoyed all my meals here from a hearty salad bowl to a sandwich to desserts. Light fare that leaves you feeling good. The falafel also struck a really nice balance of being crispy but not being fried or heavy. They also used interesting ingredients that you don't see everywhere - like currants and pomegranate seeds - in a lot of their cooking. The fresh currant juice was fantastic! And the presentation of every dish was well-done.

The place is very clean with the owners (including their daughter occasionally) being very friendly and helpful, recommending options if you ask. They were happy to switch between German and English for different guests. They clearly designed the place to be clean and inviting, even having some nice art and décor in the restrooms. They offer indoor and outdoor seating. They provide great service and make sure everything's good without bothering you too much as you eat. Oh, and the price-performance ratio is great, with the food being quite affordable for Heidelberg, portions being good, and quality being high. I believe they were cash-only when I last visited. This is my favorite restaurant in Heidelberg, highly recommend giving it a visit!

Pros: Fresh ingredients, Delicious taste combinations, Lovely family running this restaurant
