Cozy, in total middle of town; de facto vegan - Edit
Super central, close to subway stops 'Schwedenplatz' & 'Stephansdom', i.e., three stops f/ central train station. Very cozy, quiet courtyard with blackbirds (merls) and peaceful people. Depending on the country you come from, you might consider it to be very expensive. Fresh, good food; inside, a little store. They are very few staff people, therefore, try to help them with orders, plates, etc.. I only saw vegan items. Nice house lemonade. Lunchtime special with soup. Gladly, hardly any garlic. (Close by is a vegan bakery called 'Anker'.)

Cozy restaurant with limited seating options in winter but outside seating in summer as well. Offers seasonal dishes without fake meat, has a little shop with tea, fruit, veggies etc.

Ok - Edit
They had run out of rice when I was here, so lunch consisted of a tasty root vegetable stew, cooked red cabbage (pretty good, but too much) and a fresh green cabbage salad. A bit too much cabbage for me. The chocolate cake was just ok. The chai tea they serve has stevia in it, which I hate. Basically an ok meal, but I won’t be back unless I’m desperate.

Pricy - Edit
I liked the lunch deal, because it was healthy and light (and a bit too salty), but it was really expensive and I was still hungry afterwards. Nothing for students!! The owner was friendly though and the atmosphere was nice and cosy and quiet. We sat outside.

Fantastic place and food and staff. - Edit
They only have a daily menu so you don't get to choose, which is perfect for a lunch during a visit in Vienna's center. You get a plate and/or a soup. I only tried the plate but it was really tasty. They have a selection of cakes. The raw macha one was delicious. Super friendly staff. And the place is really nice in an inner courtyard, Away from the noise of the city.

Rude. - Edit
The place is nice, central and cosy.
Read moreBefore meeting a friend for lunch ,I ordered a glass of warm soy milk.
For 200ml I was charged 4.5€.
Mentioning that I find it pricy, all workers came to explain how organic it is and what not, and how the pricing is perfectly normal.
Well, it is not.
Pros: An inner court, very homy and cosy, completely veg
Cons: Pricy and rude.

rude staff, bad food and not even vegan - Edit
Me and my friend came here to relax and we're instead confronted by rude staff who laughed in our face after giving us coffee with milk when we are vegan and told them before hand we don't confuse animal products! They tried to make us pay but we refused and the staff got very rude with us and we felt very uncomfortable. This place should not be listed as 'vegan' it is terrible.

A Wonderful Experience - Edit
We had a great dining experience at this very warm and friendly little restaurant.. Moni (owner) made us feel very welcome, it felt like going to a friend's house to have dinner.. The food was very good.. The restaurant was a little hard to find, but once there in the little courtyard, it was quite sweet and magical (light in evening/night..).

Stopped here for lunch and found out that the bistro serves one plate with a few different items on it with the option of soup. It was good food and the location was cozy and quiet in an outside courtyard. Lunch is not served until 11:30am and they take cash only.

nice and cosy place - Edit
I really love the Makro1 in Vienna, as it has a nice outdoor area and is somewhat of a hidden gem in the old city of Vienna. It is a very quiet place and the chef seems to be always very happy and friendly. The food is creatively prepared and very delicious. I would definitely recommend going there

Delicious and unique experience - Edit
I ate many times at Makro1 and it has always been delicious! The food is creative and colourful, each meal is freshly cooked right in front your eyes, it´s also inspiring for me to what to cook at home. The staff is friendly and welcoming, the garden outside is very nice and special. I also like that the food is organic only and local and that they show political interests with "stop animal testing"- and Amnesty International stickers or presenting petitions for environmental causes in their shop. Sometimes it´s not easy to get a free spot but the short waiting time is definitly worth it! Especially the delicious desserts are worth it ;)

Delicious macro vegan meal - Edit
Delicious macrobiotic restaurant with a very good lunch menu. I had the soup and macro plate and they were very tasty and definitely healthy. The vegan dessert was also outstanding. I also enjoyed the setting. The little plaza where this restaurant is located is very relaxing.

Good lunch in the centre of Vienna - Edit
Makro 1 has a really lovely and quiet outdoor seating area in the centre of Vienna. It's only about 5 min away from Stephansplatz. They offer a variety of organic juices - I especially love the HasenFit ones. For lunch you can always get a soup and/or the main dish. The last time I ate there I had rice, lentils and 3 different salads (beetroot, green salad and cabbage). It all tasted good! I really enjoy more simple meals like that. The prices are also ok considering you are in the city centre.

Communal Dining - Edit
Hard to find and a bit expensive but it is a veggie place in the centre of Vienna so it's not surprising. The daily dish was tasty, staff were great and I liked the idea of strangers all dining around 1 big table. Feels like a big family kitchen,

Makro 1 - Edit
The place is tiny and not so easy to find (hidden in a court off the street). It is mainly an organic shop with one big table where you can sit. The staff was friendly, but I was not so impressed by the menu. All is vegan, but there was only one dish (which was made fresh on front of your eyes, so that is a plus) and two dessert options - one freshly made cake and a tiramisu. But all in all it was a bit too alternative even for me. Also quite expensive.

Quaint, cosy and surprisingly different. - Edit
Makro 1 was a very different and heartwarming experience for my partner and I. We were the first people to arrive in the welcoming restaurant and found there was just the one long table to sit at. The kitchen space was in clear view to all, with three lovely ladies preparing and cooking their magic. There is one set menu on offer per day, which the ladies of the house accommodated to a gluten-free option. As we received our meals (which was the best miso pumpkin I have ever consumed), another lady had entered, as well as another couple, casually joining us around the one long table. Soon enough, the table was full and we felt as though we had sat down for a Christmas dinner with a large, vegan family. We left Makro 1 feeling humbled and fortunate to be in a world surrounded by such lovely people.

Fantastic Fixed Menu Vegan Lunch Spot - Edit
This place is an absolute gem. They offer a daily vegan menu for lunch that can be ordered with or without soup. Desserts also available. The ladies here are lovely and the communal table is a great way to chat if you want to or you can just eat and go. There is outdoor seating too but it was a bit cold for that. The food was fantastic and healthy. So great to get some real vegetables in Vienna. This place was without a doubt a favorite in Vienna and on the trip too. Lunch only. It is also a store with produce and packaged items.

Amazing! - Edit
A great break from all of the heavy, processed stuff that one can end up eating while traveling. The food is very simple: a soup and a plate, and the plate always has one grain like rice or couscous and 5 different veggie dishes. All really fresh, tasty, and simple. You can get regular size, or really go large for a few euros extra. Lots of yummy drinks.
