Colorful vegan cafe opened in mid-2014 in the Yeldegirmeni quarter of Kadikoy, reopened in this location Jan 2020. Opens out to the street with indoor/outdoor dining. Serves Turkish, Mediterranean/Middle Eastern foods such as pilaf, baked beans, falafel, bulghur, mashed potatoes, dolma, lentil soup, eggplant stews. Uses extra virgin olive oil and local and seasonal veg. Reported closed February 2024.

Don't miss this place in kadiköy. Very creative and cosy atmosphere. The mixed plate with hummus, spinach, lentil balls and other traditional specialties is highly recommendable. Also vegan cakes and sweets are offered.

I had a very good soup, a good wrap and a delicious home-made piece of pie. It’s a very nice place to be and all food is vegan and home-made using local ingredients. On top of that, the owner is very lovable. Definitely recommend!

This is a beautiful place to eat at. The chickpea wrap was amazing and full of lovely spice and flavours. I wanted to keep eating it. I also tried one of the homemade cakes and it was delicious. I left very happy and full!

What a beautiful peaceful place a bit off from all the business of the tourist packed streets. The staff were so sweet and friendly. They offered tea while I was waiting and I got a little cookie 🍪
Read moreThe food was probably one of the best wraps I ever had. The vegan version of the Turkish ‚köfte‘ as a wrap with incredible fresh vegetables and pickled sides with a flavorful sauce. They even asked me for my spice level 🌶️
Highly recommend eating there and taking deep breath in the colorful and peaceful restaurant

They have a huge variety of tea which is something I really appreciate, being a huge fan of tea. I had a raspberry cake and it was delicious.

Their signature soup was one of the best and most flavourful soups I've had. The owner is very kind and helpful. The only downside for me is that there are few gluten free options.

Mahatma Cafe is a distinct top choice, they were the first 100% vegan cafe & restaurant to open in Turkey and the food is extremely fresh. You'll dine in a colorful and vibrant space, eating a rainbow of nutrients to match. Being here is a genuinely joyful experience, the owner Sait is a great person and great cook. I appreciated small touches like a quote about animal equality included on the placemats, and peaceful music.

We found this restaurant by accident and what a happy accident it was indeed! A very cute little restaurant with tasty and healthy homemade food. Everything is vegan (they even have vegan ayran!) and the owner is wonderful and speaks English. The food looks and tastes amazing and they serve a spicy winter chai that is delicious.

Cannot recommend this place enough — delicious all-vegan menu that’s healthy, nutritious and good quality. The owner is so welcoming and even made a special tea for me to bring home to my partner (who was unwell). A lovely, colourful place to sit and hang out with the local cats as well.
