Limited plant-based options, but delicious! - Edit
Machaca is a cozy downtown Gloucester eatery and bar. We went the Wednesday night before Thanksgiving, and the place was PACKED. The waitstaff was attentive and very friendly (and fast - even when the place was so busy).
Read moreThey don't have many fully plant-based entree options, but what they DO have — 2 salads and a taco — is excellent. So often, a place with plant-based options just toss in pasta or a basic salad, but not Machaca. They clearly put as much attention to flavor and creativity as all their other dishes. And the side of guacamole is epic!
We would have returned the next day and ordered the exact same items if it wasn't Thanksgiving!
There isn't a ton available in Gloucester for vegans but you can confidently order from Machaca.
Pros: Great waitstaff and fast service, very fresh food, Generous drinks

When I went they had one vegan taco entrée on the menu (the Tingas tacos) and a couple of salads were also vegan. I did ask the waiter if they would be able to make any substitutions on the other tacos to make them vegan but they could not. Our waitress recommended I get the cactus Tingas tacos and I’m so glad she did. They were absolutely amazing! We also got the guacamole and everything was so fresh and really authentic. The drinks were also super delicious. We ended up going here two nights in a row because it was so good.
