lush cwb - Edit

i'd always associated lush with pungent smells and didn't know it was vegetarian until seeing it on happycow.

on a whim, i decided to give their products a go and so far have tried "herbalism", "don't look at me", "cup'o'coffee", "dark angels", "oatifix", plus mini samples of "mask of magnanimity", "cranberry festive" and "catastrophe cosmetic". the masks don't contain preservatives, need to be refrigerated, and have to be used up in a few months.

i like most of what i've tried, though i find the cleansers troublesome as you need to pinch some from the tub and add water to it before spreading it on your face. the masks are way more convenient (applied directly from the tub, unless it's really thick), but i'd prefer if they didn't contain colourings (that would detract from the fun from being a smurf, of course).

for both, it's a messy affair each time you use it as it dirties the sink or shower. if you don't wash carefully enough, bits of the mask or cleanser can get stuck in your skin or your eyes.

my skin seems to have been responding well to lush products and i'll probably continue using their masks. if it matters to you, some products do contain parabens so check the ingredient list.

staff have been very patient and attentive, recommending products based on my needs. one thing though - those i've spoken to don't seem to have good skin, which is what one normally expects from skincare professionals. i gather lush's strategy is to let staff use their products so they can testify to the fact that it works?

Pros: vegetarian, recycling programme

Cons: not completely paraben-free, messy, can get stuck on skin, staff dont have good skin
