Strange location, good food - Edit
The restaurant was in a strange area but worth going to if you are nearby. Everything is 100% vegan including the wine. If you are in a hurry, this is the place to go! The service was quite hurried. Food was good, fresh and mostly local.

This restaurant offers a very interesting menu and I definitely recommend the appetizers and for the main course the falafels. Staff is really friendly too, and as for the price it comes cheap for plenty of delicious 100% vegan food! You must visit!

Worst vegan food I have eaten - Edit
My husband and I were staying in Porto for a month - a mixture of business and holiday. Our apartment was close to this restaurant so I was looking forward to going.
Read moreThe place is small but not in a pleasant cosy way. The music was loud, the speaker was on the wall behind us. We waited 25 minutes for the food. We had ordered risotto - one mushroom and one beetroot. Neither of us could eat it.
We offered to pay for what we had eaten and chose to leave.
The food is expensive for what you get.
Not worth a visit . There are much nicer vegan places in Porto.
Pros: vegan only restaurant
Cons: noisy , expensive, very slow service

So good!! - Edit
Had a 'Wellington' with sweet potato chips and a entree of French fries in francesinha sauce. All the food was insanely tasty and delicious, the staff was nice, the place is small to medium size but really cozy since it was restored from an old house. Decor and ambience is also good with jazz music playing in the background. And also it is cheap! I paid for my friend and I which was an order of two mains, two entrees and two drinks for 25 euros. For anyone vegan who is looking to try the traditional francesinha this is the place. I have tried other versions and this one is so so similar you seriously almost can't tell it is vegan and I am born and raised in Porto so you judge for yourself 😊. Recommended! Can't wait to go back

Loop the Lupin - Edit
This place was recommended to me by hack_man, and it turned out to be the closest place in Porto from our apartment. Unfortunately it was closed for our first two nights there, but for the next two nights we went and enjoyed the magic. From the outside you may be forgiven for thinking you were on the set of Prisoner Cell Block H, but as the sliding door is opened your are made welcome from the moment you enter. The food here is an art form, some light fresh dishes such as the raw beetroot ravioli starter, and vegan takes on Portuguese classics such as Francesihna and Pastel de nata. I also sampled the roasted tomato starter and mushroom risotto and frankly the banoffee pie was probably worth a visit on its own. The chef came out to speak to us and ask how the food was and talked a bit about their aims etc. The menu also changes every few months or so to reflect seasonal availability. The place was busy, but not crowded, and you could tell it wasn't just vegans who go here to enjoy the food. Lupin is excellent. Go there. Twice.

Fabulous! - Edit
We wanted to try some vegan versions of traditional Portuguese food while in Porto and so decided to make a stop here for lunch. The place has a lovely tranquil kind of vibe with decor to match. In the bathroom, instead of disposable paper towels or a drier to dry your hands there are real small towels that you place in a basket to be washed and reused. The staff were also very lovely and accommodating and the service was really quick.
Read moreTo start, we had some bread with tapenade and olive oil and the rawvioli. Both were delicious. The bread was a lovely texture, soft and spongy like a cake, and the rawvioli - two slices of beetroot with cashew cheese in between - was really light and fresh.
For the main, we had the francesinha and the lentil Wellington. The frencesinha was amazing! So so filling but absolutely delicious. I don't know what kind of vegan cheese they used in place of the egg but it was so melty! I am told the Wellington was also delicious.
For dessert we had to try the pastel de nata. It was so creamy and it came with some little vegan meringues too. We bought three more to take away.
One of the waitresses told us they were going to have a traditional Portuguese bean dish on the next day but unfortunately we left that afternoon. We enjoyed our takeaway pastel de natas on the train over to Spain though. Will definitely come back if we are ever in Porto again.

Deadly restaurant!! Need to return! - Edit
Had lunch at the Lupin. I'm of Portuguese origin and I was dying to have vegan Francesinhas. It was really really tasty. Loved each bite and would love to return for another one! My girlfriend had the Falafel with hummus which was really nice too. For a starter we tried the foccacia with olive oil and some kind of pesto. Really yummy. I was also dying to have a vegan pastel de nata. It was deadly! The chocolate mousse is not really a mousse. More like a chocolate cream. Anyway, go there! Staff is lovely and food is amazing. Can't wait to return!!!

amazing food, ambience, and staff - Edit
This restaurant is 100% vegan so be prepared to try everything. I stopped here while visiting Porto and it was the best meal of the weekend. For an appetizer we had the raw-violi which was beef sandwiched with cashew cheese. For entrees I had a lentil loaf dish and my husband had the mushroom risotto. For dessert we had a banana custard item. All were excellent. The ambience is quaint, not pretentious. The staff is very kind and they all wore shirts with the name Lupin followed by 100% vegan. The restaurant is open only during certain hours so check ahead to avoid being disappointed. Also it was cash only went I went.

Food OK, lovely staff - Edit
Lupin was a nice option. The staff was incredibly kind and the local is clean and not too small. Maybe too far from the city centre and a bit isolated but nothing a map cannot fix. The food was ok - we had a salad and the typical "Francesinha" sandwich. Both were okay, but nothing special.

Good vegan option. - Edit
We enjoyed our meal at Lupin, and I would recommend it to veg or vegan friends. Our server was friendly, and for the most part, service was efficient. I would say that it is slightly overpriced, compared to another local establishment, when you consider the ambience and food quality.

Destiny for some is to save lives - Edit
Let's make one thing clear, I work to live and not the other way round. To discover amazing vegan experiences in new cities is one of life's greatest passions. This happened in Porto tonight. Even before we stepped foot into this place I had the feeling it was going to be a 5 Happy Cow hit. To be in the company of passionate staff who ooze veganism was a privilege. The connection was instant and the experience unfolded without compromise. We had the house bread with olive oil and black olive tapenade as an appetiser. Delicious. Starters were skipped, straight on to the mains. We had the traditional Porto Francesihna drizzled in signature gravy and a mushroom risotto which was steeped in taste and texture. For dessert, we were tempted into having a traditional Portuguese custard tart and a chocolate mousse. Both were sensational. I don't use this word lightly. Sensational. An espresso and an organic Graham's port helped round off one of the most prolific meals of my life. If any Happy Cow member reading this review happens to go to Porto and wants to experience something very special please visit Lupin and share the wonder of this fabulous place.

What an amazing place this is. The food is sensational, the restaurant has a nice welcoming relaxed vibe and the owners and staff are super friendly. I love Porto and Lupin has just given me a big reason for returning because I love this place so much. I had the mushroom risotto and chocolate mousse and they were both so tasty. We finished with a vegan and organic port and it was very helpful to learn that Graham's port is vegan.

Lupin Restaurant is a gem. The dishes are prepared with locally sourced ingredients, the service is friendly, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Above all, the food is exceptional: a unique and creative menu developed by a wizard who blends flavours and textures to perfection. He needs to release a cookbook.

Great, casual vegan - Edit
Solid vegan restaurant with some great options and really nice space. The roasted tomato entrada was divine and surprising, sweet and smoky somehow, even if it was a bit ugly... and the millefeuille main was the best of our four choices. The risotto was good but not amazing, the ravioli was a bit cold, and the francesinha was, well, lunch meat and cheese... Pastel de nata dessert was great. And aquafaba meringues were also a nice touch to the peanut cheesecake. Worth a visit if you're in the area.

Amazing food and place!! - Edit
The menu changes and they sometimes have vegetarian/vegan variations of traditional portuguese food! The food is very very tasty and there are available vegan/gluten free options of some dishes that are vegetarians or have gluten. The staff is very nice and the place is very cute! The bathroom is very eco, with individuals towels to dry your hands that then are washed! The desserts are very good as well! I love the bio juices! An amazing place to eat and spend good time :D
