The Portuguese health store

Celeiro is the Portuguese health food franchise, where you can buy vegan products and have a meal. Even though I don't particularly like the ethics of the place (they sell fish oil and other animal produts), it's the best place to go for vegan products, including tofu and seitan, as it is cheaper than the supermarkets and has a better and greater variety. You can also buy natural cosmetics, health products (namely for people intolerant to gluten or nuts) and organic vegetables.
The shops also have a cafe which serves meals. The cafe service is impeccable, as it has great organic coffee, and serves soy lattes, vegan toasts and other treats. The meals, though, are usually expensive and of low quality. One option, which I use frequently, is to eat just a soup and some snacks, like croquettes, pies and cakes. Beware, though, that the quality of these snacks can vary a lot and some will be awful, while others will be great. Also beware that some snacks are not vegan, so be sure to ask if not sure.

Pros: Vegan products available, Friendly staff, Large variety of health products

Cons: In a mall, bah, Sells fish oil and other non-vegan products, Quality of the snacks and meals inconsistent

gooddd

I am a local and often eat and shop at this Chain. They have a bunch of them in Porto, mostly on shopping centers like this one and Marshopping and Norteshopping. They have mostly take away type of food like pastries and juices, dessert sometimes and soup. Some of the stores have seating area. The staff is really nice in every store I went so far, very helpful and warming. For shopping it is also good as I do all my shopping from here like vegan shampoo and things like that. They have from vitamins to fresh produce to makeup, a really good health store. Prices are a bit high but I am a student 😂

Great takeaway food!

This location was a quick walk to our hotel. They have empanadas and other savory pastries in the deli case. All the vegan ones were clearly marked and insanely good. We don't have access to a microwave so we ate them cold and they were still amazing. It's basically a small natural food store, with a not a ton of grab-and-go options for vegans, but what they do have is very good. This place saved us on a Monday night, when most Veg restaurants in the area are closed. If they've got vegan savory pastries in the case when you visit, don't miss out!

Very small location

This Celeiro does not have a buffet counter or hot meals to speak of, more like a coffee and snack bar with vegan interpretations of traditional Portuguese salgadinhos. But it does have seitan in 1kg bags, and lots of other snack and health food items. The regular grocery stores in the area all stock soy milk and soy yogurt, but Celeiro also has coconut and almond yogurt and larger containers and in plain instead of flavored.

Pros: hard to find ingredients

Cons: tiny location

Great place for shopping. And eat something as well

What I personally like about Celeiro (which is a franchise, by the way) is the variety of products, that passes from healthy food in general to vegetarian and vegan. It allies food - it's where I buy tofu, and perhaps one of the few places in Portugal to find several brands of it- to cosmetics, creams, ointments, teas and pharmacy stuff. Not everything is vegan, but most things are labelled properly.
Then you have a small caffe-part, that operates as restaurant and also has some tasty cakes.
The staff was always gentle with me. Quite fond of it!

Pros: Variety, Friendly staff, Good value
