Quality food but overpriced. - Edit
This was the only vegan/vegetarian-friendly restaurant that I could find in Kanazawa while I stayed there. I dined here for dinner one evening and had the spicy "chicken" fajitas. The dish tasted good, but was way too expensive for my travel budget.
Read moreIt was odd that the signage outside was written in large English font with tiny Japanese script underneath that could hardly be noticed. It seemed to subtly exclude or discourge locals and Japanese tourists from dining here. There are additional costs such as a mandatory drink purchase, service charge, and tax. I was also asked for a tip at the end, even though it's not Japanese culture to tip.
Their lunch menu seems a bit more reasonably priced, so I would recommend to visit during lunch hours if you are on a budget but still want to give it a try.
If you can afford it, then do visit this place if you happen to be in the area.

Great food & very friendly stuff - Edit
They have a lot of vegetarian and vegan stuff. We had the pizza, which was a little bit small, but very tasty. They even gave us a free warmer pad to use outside, because it was a cold and rainy day.

Love for sum - Edit
First of all the food is 5/5 but the experience and the price lowers the overall score. The portion size for the price is too small, additionally, there were lots of extra charges (e.g. mandatory drink per person, service table charge, tax) which you have to agree to on a waiver before entering. If you have the money then this is a no brainer. Tofu pizza was particularly good.

The service was excellent and staff very friendly.
I loved the Teppanyaki Ginger Steak in the set menu and also the crispy Lions Mane Mushroom.

Pricey vegan options - Edit
This is a pescatarian cafe that caters to tourists. There are a few vegan options on the menu. We ordered two sushi dishes. They served the dishes while browning them with a torch, which was cool. The dishes themselves were modest in size. The sushi tasted good, but not extraordinary. At nearly 3000 yen a piece, plus mandatory drinks (starting at about 700 yen), this was a pricey lunch option. They asked for a tip afterwards, which is not common in Japan and we did not expect this.

Small family restaurant with many vegan and gluten free options. We all ordered gyoza as lunch or as extra, it was great. In the picture the amazing sushi I had (with avocado and vegan mayo, can't remember it's title in the menu).

The food was wonderful! We ordered the tasting menu (6 appetizers and a main) and were delighted with every dish. The chef is omnipresent and oversees everything in this small establishment. The vibe is elegant/ casual and very relaxed.

Incredible. - Edit
Went there twice and both times food was incredible. Creative, delicious and beautiful too!
Read moreSecond time we went for dinner (we booked it the same night we went there for the first time) I asked if they could put a candle on hubby’s cake as it was his bday, they went beyond that! they turned all the lights off, turned on a nice “happy birthday” song and went above and beyond to make their matcha cake dessert look even more birthday looking - the flavour was beyond delicious.
Make sure you book in as they do two dinner services (6pm and 8pm) and get full very quickly!

Nice experience, but not perfect - Edit
We had a dinner Menue with several small starters and a main course selected by the chef. Service was reasonable, we had to wait a long time before we could order our drinks. But I should mention, that only one lady managed the whole service in this small restaurant. Dinner was expensive, no free water provided, rice must be paid extra. In fact we liked the quality and the vegan selection, but price was as higher than at other good locations. I really can recommend that place, especially for the quality of the dinner!

A very frustrating experience - Edit
I arrived at 5.10 pm and they informed me that dinner was served at 6. So I decided to order a pizza and a drink. At 5.45 pm after eating my pizza, I requested to see the menu, because I wanted to decide if I would order another pizza or if I would wait for dinner. The girl was trying to explain that in this case, if I decided for dinner I should leave and come back later. I asked if they were closing, and she said not. In a moment the communication was so complicated that I just decided to order a second pizza slice. The chef started to talk with the waitress, and even if I couldn’t understand, I’m pretty sure he was complaining about something related to me. I asked her if I should leave and she said “no”. In the end the waitress came to my table and asked if I wanted to wait for dinner more 20 min. I said that I could leave because I didn’t want to cause any more trouble for her. Terrible and frustrating experience, even if the food was good.

Totally underrated - Edit
I was immediately amazed when I entered the restaurant. Such a hearty welcome! Actually the service did not speak english very well, but they were prepared: they had a short questionnaire (if vegan/vegetarian, special dietary restrictions etc). The menu is not 100% vegan, but probably 90% of the 30 items.

There is care in this place - Edit
Nice to eat something a touch more upscale. I had a lunch and a dinner here. My lunch was a pizza and coffee.
Read morePizza was amazing (definitely one of the best balanced vegan pizzas I’ve had), and the coffee was great, complete with Kanazawa gold leaf!
Dinner was nice, with a quite special vegan sashimi (made with yuba or something?) and I had a tasty “roe” ramen featuring truffle. Dinner had a drink requirement; I had a local Kanazawa gin. I’d suggest the set menu is the best way to go.
The owners even made me vegan onigiri (with vegan jerky!) for my upcoming, lengthy Shinkansen trip!
While this place is not vegan, the owners care deeply about food and people. Recommended.
Pros: Very helpful staff, Tasty food, Presentation

Average food with extreme pretension and cost - Edit
More like "Love for None". My girlfriend came here and brought an allergy card detailing what she was severely allergic to (cashews, walnuts, pistachios). She showed it before ordering, and things went fine until dessert.
Read moreSince she already showed her allergy card (written in Japanese), and the dessert menu item she ordered had "no almonds or coconuts", so she assumed the matcha tart cake would be fine. Turns out it was made entirely of cashews-- she ate one bite, then after a brief period of feeling strange, she got extremely ill. She had to use an epipen (one of the two she brought on this vacation), and rush into the bathroom to vomit. The waiter was really nice and apologetic; he brought water and apologized.. But in this restaurant where there was only my gf and I, none of the other staff even turned to look or to offer help.
Anyhow, I'm rating it mainly 1 stars because of this incident where my girlfriend suffered a lot. Why would you put "no almonds or coconuts", but have it include cashews, a tree nut? Peanuts, tree nuts, and fish are the big 3 severe life threatening allergy foods.
If this incident didn't happen, I'd say the restaurant is about 2 stars? The customer service was fairly good (the waiter was very nice and spoke English) and the food is so-so. But the portion sizes are absurdly small; my anorexic vegan gf was still hungry after a dinner set with the crispy tuna chestnut add-on (over 6000 yen in cost, not including the drinks and table charge of 550 yen/person). It's absurdly expensive for what you're getting, the majority of the cost probably comes what I'm assuming is local organic produce or something?
You can get better vegan food for 1/3rd the price elsewhere in Japan.
For example in the dinner set we got, it went something like this:
Appetizers: 4 crunchy leaves with sauce, crunchy tofu ball, two more various single slices of local produce
Soup: Small bowl of tofu/mushroom soup
Entree: My gf got the vegetable mushroom tempura, I got the scallops. I got 4 pieces of scallops and the rest was bean sprouts. Both of our dishes came with a bowl of rice and exactly 4 slices of local vegetables.
Dessert: One purple grape, one green grape, a slice of a fig, slice of orange
It felt really pretentious and and I can't believe I paid this much for tiny slices of various "local Kanazawa produce". I think this is the only restaurant I went to in Japan that I felt legitimately disappointed and scammed by.
Pros: Food was ok
Cons: Extremely small portions, Absurdly high prices for what you're getting, Lazy food

An experience worth the price - Edit
Other reviews mention the price, which is higher than other places like ippudo or similar, however this place is _very_ nice.
Read moreThe service was terrific, and they were very patient with my poor Japanese (their English was more than good enough).
The food was fantastic. All local Kanazawa specialties, and we left with a new found appreciation for yuzu. The vegan beef dishes were on another level compared to the more budget friendly places (which are still very tasty on their own).
The dessert was a great combination of flavors as well, and they prepared a special treat when they heard that we were on an anniversary trip.
We went with recommendations from the staff and there wasn’t a single bite less than delicious.
If you want to have a “nice dinner” and can budget a little extra, this is the way to go.

Cover fee plus tip - Edit
The food is pretty good, but the place in general is overpriced. They charge a 500 yen seating fee which they say is normal (I’ve never seen this in Japan) and at the end it asks for a tip (definitely unacceptable for Japan). Kinda screams tourist trap.
