One of the only options in the Zócalo - Edit
Food is okay, not many vegan options, but it's one of the only veg places in the area. I would recommend getting the menú del día.

Hamburger and Vegan Sandwich - Edit
We had hamburger and a vegan sandwich both come with frites, which were good, but the burgers were very dry - basically carbohydrate bomb and the side vegetables were over cooked and cold, didn’t ate them at all. We had also mushroom croquettes- boyfriend says they were best of all, to me they tasted as from a buffet. Overall, if you are very hungry and it’s the only option it would do the job. Check photos.

Don’t go there - it’s really terrible. I mean it’s possibly the worst food I’ve ever had at a restaurant.

Good! Some Mexican food options with other non mex options. Mole was delicious. Cute location. Menu was a bit hard to decipher or non- Spanish speakers. Easy to ask for dishes without cheese!!!

Not Great - Edit
I got the Milanes with Avocado - the Milanes were basically just oily, slightly mushy soy, along with ketchup. The other dishes people in my party got were not great either. You’re best off going somewhere else.

We went for the daily menu and it was so disappointing. Salad was good, the the exception of the very wilted kale. We tried both the hot and cold starter soups. The hot was...mediocre at best (veggie and lentil - pro tip: add salt and salsa for flavour). The cold soup was literally a thick banana and date smoothie - very alarming and off-putting.
Read moreI couldn’t even tell you what our mains were. Sautéed mushrooms with SO MUCH dried chilli skins that you couldn’t chew or swallow. The rice was undercooked and bland. Don’t get me started on the croquet, I’m still trying to figure out what was in my mouth...
We left before we got to dessert.
I realize we had a very limited offering from the menu, and probably could have picked from people’s suggestions, but the vegan options were very limited.
Pros: Great view of the city

Restaurant bien situé, en plein centre historique et qui a des prix tout à fait raisonnable.

Los Vegetarianos was located around the corner from where I was staying so I went there a couple of times. Whilst it wasn't the best food I ate in Mexico, it was more than passable, and the staff were lovely.

Nice meal/view/staff - Edit
I enjoyed my vegan breakfast at Los Vegetarianos. I had the enfrijoladas which was corn soft tacos with potato filling folded in half and smothered with refried beans. They presented it nicely with steamed vegetables and a side of fruit and coffee. I read reviews of the food being bland, and I don’t think the restaurant used much salt, but I added the non-spicy salsa and it really made the dish whole.

Excellent Service - Edit
I was visiting CDMX with six other people who are not vegan or vegetarian, and none of them wanted to eat at veg-friendly places on our visit. As such, I was thankful when I went off on my own from the group after finding this place listed on Happy Cow.
Read moreI’m surprised that other reviewers have mentioned the lack of friendly or accommodating service. Alejandra was my server, and she could not have have been any more friendly, helpful, or engaged in making sure that I found something I liked on the menu. She smiled brightly the whole time, and because I’m only partially fluent in Spanish, did her best to communicate with me in English where it was necessary, pulling out her smartphone to translate. I’ve eaten at maybe seven or eight other veg spots in CDMX on prior visits, and she was by far the nicest and most helpful employee I’ve encountered among any of them.
I will say that my sandwich was somewhat lackluster...so as other reviewers have indicated, the food doesn’t seem to be outstanding, but I have only been once, so I don’t think I could qualify as an authority on the matter. If I’m in the area in the future, I’ll definitely visit again.
Pros: Friendly service. , Central location.
Cons: Not too many vegan options

Plain and simple - Edit
This restaurant is ideally located for a pit stop if you are touring the historic centre of the city. It has quite an extensive menu. However we found most of the dishes that we tried were quite bland.

Bland - Edit
The restaurant is right in the middle of the Centro District, so it's convenient. I only ate there once, but because of my language barrier (my fault) I ended up ordering a pretty bad faux meat sandwich. The waitress seemed bored and uninterested in helping me with the menu. Again, I only ate there once, but the place felt more middle of the road European/American than Mexican, in menu and in presentation, which is not what I was seeking.

Vegan options aren't immediately obvious but staff are friendly and will help. I had the chilaquiles con nopal which came with fried beans - filled me up nicely.
Grab yourself a window seat if you can and enjoy some people watching.
There are much better places to eat for vegans in Mexico City but this is adequate and decent value.
Pros: Coffee refills, Quick service
Cons: Limited choice for vegans , Access is via a steep flight of stairs, Bathroom is rickety

Decent choice in Centro - Edit
The restaurant is a perfectly fine option when you are near the Zocalo. The food is decent and not expected to be gourmet. The service is fine, and helpful in indicating what is vegan. The place is unpretentious and busy, .

Not impressed with the food. It was fairly plain. The salad options were pretty good but if you want something flavorful and filling, I wouldn't recommend this joint.

Vegetarian Food in the Heart of El Zocalo - Edit
Very cute vegetarian restaurant above the busy street on your way to the heart of El Zocalo in Mexico City. They open early and had a sign on the street, it was an awesome sight seeing a veggie friendly place. For some reason I went for a sandwich "El Vegano" as I'm full vegan. My meal was decent but wish they had more traditional meals a la vegan- as my mega came with French fries. Papa had eggs/toast or something similar; Mama had fruit, granola, and yogurt. This place has a lot of potential and I'm hopeful they'll add more vegan meals in the future OR go all vegan which would be the best thing ever!

Vegan options could have been labelled more clearly - Edit
It's a quaint little place above the shops in a bustling street. It could have been busier but it was dead. Pros include: sitting by the large open Juliette balcony watching the world go by; the price of the food; the large juice portions. Cons include: the menu could have been more detailed. I had no idea what to expect when I ordered the 'aguacate y jitomate rellenos'. It was a bit of salsa on two halves of an avocado. I love avocado but this wasn't what I'd hoped for. I'd love to give this restaurant a bit shake up especially as there's better places nearby.
