Very cute place decorated lovely with plants - Edit
The server and person working the cash register seemed to be having an off day. No smiles and I felt awkward when I left my standard 10% tip. The older lady who brought me my food was lovely and full of good energy. The food is priced very fairly and it was good. I was hoping for a happier atmosphere, but the place was tranquil and beautifully decorated so I let that slide. Probably just a one time visit for me, but would recommend to get there menu del día if you’re in the area.

Lovely People but take-away not recommended - Edit
We arrived at 7.15pm and had to order take-away as the restaurant closes at 8pm. We orderer onion rings, cauliflower wings, a hot dog with fries and tlayudas. Unfortunately it was not good at all - quite tasteless and soggy, except for the hotdog which was really good.

Pure vegan restaurant at local prices - Edit
All food is vegan. As moles is a typical Oaxaca dish, i choose the degustacion of 3 moles $150 3 different sauces served with rice and tortillas. When i got the dish, i had to doublecheck that there was nochicken in the sauces... They were mushrooms, but at first look, i got quite worried. Loved the 3 moles. The restaurant is inside the door and upstairs in a lovely green terrace

Flavorful, Authentic and Plant-friendly - Edit
This was the 5th vegan restaurant I tried in Oaxaca, and probably my favorite. The food is flavorful, authentic and reasonably priced. It is a woman owned and run business, and the staff were engaging. It is also children and plant friendly. I also bought vegan mole paste so I could try and make it myself - it is made with all the regular ingredients, minus the animal fat (with seeds instead). Most of the mole paste in the market includes animal fat.

Mi favorito fue mole amarillo, pero todos son buenos. Los hongos estuvieron sabroso, pero pienso que no hubo suficiente hongos en el plato. También probé agua de sandía y me encantaaa.

This restaurant has various types of traditional Oaxacan dishes like mole and tlayuda. I tried the 3 moles dish with mushrooms, and also asked for tortillas since there was so much mole sauce and not enough rice. My favorite was the yellow mole but all of them are good. I liked the mushrooms that came with it but I didn't think there was enough of them. Also get the watermelon agua fresca it's sooooo good.

The bbq cauliflower was delicious! The tacos were good, but not our favorite- missing some flavour. And the staff was not very friendly unfortunately as we didn’t feel very welcome from start, and when we went to pay, they seemed annoyed that we didn’t have change.

Los Muchitos serves plant based versions of traditional dishes on a quaint rooftop terrace. The cauliflower bbq wings were an appetising starter. The main was not my favourite dish; I chose the Tlayudas with pastor and found it rather dry and tasteless. For dessert I tried the truffle and chocolate cake, both were amazing. The Oaxacan chocolate however was the clear winner, with a deep, earthy and rich cacao aroma.

Suprised by the charm - Edit
We arrived late in Oaxaca and were very suprised to find the small gem on the outskirts of the city center. We didn‘t expect much but were very much positive suprised. Food was home cooked and well seasoned and staff was super friendly. Will go again.

A cool rooftop patio with really great food for a fraction of what you pay anywhere else. Lunch for two including a jug of agua del dia was 200 pesos! Absolutely worth the walk from Zocalo.

Best place to try typical Oaxaca food - Edit
My husband and I tried this restaurant in the beginning of our one month stay in Oaxaca. We were afraid that we wouldn’t be able to try all the typical Oaxaca specialties. This restaurant is 100% vegan and specializes in Oaxaca and typical Mexican foods. All done deliciously.
