A Vegan Oasis of Heaven - Edit
Les Gourmandises Louca is a zero waste organic 100% vegan cafe, in the beautiful city of Quebec, owned by Gregory and Julie. I loved the interior, it was so chilled and relaxed, there was a small table in the window, which you sat around on cushions, a communal table and small tables of two and everything was secondhand, all part of the no waste policy. I loved the bold yellow poster on the wall, about the dairy industry, I felt right at home.
Read moreThe napkins were made from cloth, as were the hand towels in the toilet, laundered each day to avoid wastage, I was totally impressed. One wall opposite the counter was full of containers of nuts, seeds, lentils, grains, herbs and spices, so you could bring your own and restock, the same for household products like washing up liquid or hand soap, located at the rear of the cafe.
On our first visit which was cold with torrential rain, we nipped in for a quick snack, so I tried to translate the menu board, but luckily Gregory spoke very good English. There was a big counter with loads of vegan goodies in, like tarts, quiches, pizza slices, cakes and tortes and power balls, all homemade by Julie.
Hubby ordered beetroot and potato soup, which was a huge bowlful, rich, luscious and packed with flavour. I chose polenta and carrot slice, which sounded a strange combination, yet I really enjoyed it, very creamy, light and tasty.
On our second day, the sun came out, so we had a long walk, so we were ready for coffee and cake by the time we got to Les Gourmandises Louca. I chose pear and almond tart and hubby a chocolate tart, with two coffees and what a treat it was.
The tarts were amazing, I did not want to finish mine it was that good, such light pastry and the almond and pear filling was fantastic. Hubby loved his chocolate tart, in fact if we were really greedy, we could have polished off another one, but we decided on another coffee instead. The coffee since we left the UK had been awful in New York and most of the Canadian ports we visited, it was weak with no taste, but the coffee at Les Gourmandises Louca was just what we wanted, so hence the second cup.
Les Gourmandises Louca is a vegan oasis in the city of Quebec, I cannot recommend it highly enough, I love their ethics and their food. How I wish I was sat typing this review and eating that pear and almond tart again.
Pros: 100% vegan, Zero waste shop

Convenient - Edit
If you’re vegan, hungry, and in the neighbourhood, I do suggest you stop by for this place‘s convenient location. I got a sandwich to go. The food is okay, but not excellent, and the menu is basic, but at least it is all vegan.

This place is lovely. It's a zero waste store but has more of a cozy cafe vibe. We tried 5 items and they were all excellent. Great place to grab breakfast or brunch with 1-2 other people.

Nice and chill environment - Edit
The daily soup warms your body up, I had a butter squash soup after a long walk outside. The brown rice pasta was alright, I didn't see any brown rice though. The plate wasn't too big, but everything on the meun wasn't expensive.

Worthy to Walk - Edit
Charming,a 20 min Walk from the Old City. The Quiche was delicious and better then the zucchini pie, which I thought to have a little unpleasant taste. I loved the fact that it’s family owned and operated, the concept of the decor, silverware, etc..are not wasted and donated to be used. We tried the pear almond tart dessert, I think it still needs some work as it crumbles in your mouth and separates awkwardly, I would have loved to try a few other things but we got full quickly. Last, the vegan cheese and tomato sandwich was awesome, I would most definitely suggest if you live in the area or come to Quebec often to try out the menu, I have a feeling some of the other dishes would be fantastic.

Nope - Edit
Went to this place due to the incredible reviews and no. Just no. The staff is friendly and the place is cute and quiet but their food is terribly bland. Their food represents what carnivores think vegan food tastes like— bland, tasteless, non exciting, like cardboard. Don’t recommend.
