Leonor’s Mexican Vegetarian is a true North Hollywood gem. - Edit
The food is comforting, flavorful, and thoughtfully prepared — especially the mushroom and spinach dishes, which are rich, satisfying, and perfectly balanced. The quesadillas, empanadas, and sandwiches all feel homemade in the best way.
Read moreWhat really sets Leonor’s apart is the heart behind the food. This is a family-owned restaurant with decades of history, and you can feel that love and legacy the moment you walk in. The space is warm, welcoming, and full of meaning.
If you love vegetarian Mexican food and supporting long-standing community spots, Leonor’s is a must-visit. Highly recommended.

The OG for Me - Edit
Welcome to the original and the best! Leonor's Mexican Restaurant, also know as Leonor's Vegetarian Mexican Restaurant or simply Leonor's is a 100% vegetarian and also vegan restaurant. Almost every single item can be made with the non-dairy (daiya) cheese they carry upon request.
Read moreLeonors uses veganaise for a lot of dishes and offered egg-less options as well.
Leonor herself was an amazing person opening the doors of this San Fernando Valley gem in 1985. Her family branching out with a second location in Studio City, the menus practically identical. Though neither fully affiliated with the other in present day.
The OG location recently partnered up with Vegatinos in a co-op shared kitchen space. Leonors is open daily from 10am/11am til 5pm/6pm Monday through Saturday, closed on Sundays only with Vegatinos operating 7 days a week. Both are available for dine in, takeout or delivery.
Some of my favorite dishes include the salads (especially the Special "Chicken" Salad), sandwiches, nachos and numerous others. Leonor's relies on it's natural ingredients, unique flavors and pinch of love in every meal. Liz/Elizabeth, the owner and daughter of the late great Leonor, brings vibrance, quality and care to every experience.
A beautiful ofrenda resides in the main dining area of their restaurant of Leonor.
Access to parking lot in the back, also street parking and clean restrooms available at the corner of Victory Blvd/Tujunga Avenue.
Pros: 100% vegan friendly, Incredible Customer Service, Family Owned
Cons: Closed after 5pm and Sundays, Must Ask for Vegan Cheese versus Vegan Optional

Just go eat here! - Edit
Enchilada was perfect. Horchata was great. Having 2 menu in one location makes this the best location for vegan mexican food and other vegan food.

Delicious and Comforting - Edit
I’ve had the pleasure of visiting Leonor’s Restaurant multiple times, and each experience just gets better. The empanadas filled with mushrooms, spinach, and cheese are absolutely delicious — honestly, they’re some of the best I’ve ever had. The food tastes fresh and you can really feel the love and care that goes into every dish.
Read moreThe staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming — shoutout to Elizabeth, who was so sweet and made the experience even more enjoyable. The vibe here is casual and inviting, making it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy a healthy, flavorful meal.
I especially recommend trying their “chicken” sandwich, “chicken” salad, and enchiladas — everything I’ve tried has been consistently great. Don’t miss their iced tea, which is a nice, caffeine-free refreshment.
What really stands out is their passion and commitment. From the attentive customer service to the attention to detail in every bite, Leonor’s shines as a top-tier dining experience. Whether you’re craving traditional Mexican comfort food or creative, plant-based dishes, this place never disappoints.
No wonder it’s my favorite restaurant — it delivers bold flavors and warmth every single time.

Fresh, healthy, friendly - Edit
I love this place. I used to go more often years ago when I was closer. I went back recently and it was somehow better. Now it’s mostly vegan rather than vegetarian. They said all vegan except for eggs. I recommend the veggie juice and Bolivian chicken sandwich. Perfect! Also, the empanadas and salsa are delicious😄

Vegano in the valley - Edit
I love that its not completely hip and trendy like every other Mexican vegan place. The dishes felt more authentic BUT kind of bland. I have definitely had better but this was a nice option to have in the valley. Most of it is vegan but there ranchero has egg & the menu isn’t super clear about that. Says everything is vegan but the ranchero has egg just an FYI ♥️

Veg food joint - Edit
When in a pinch go. There chickn is made from chick beans. The steak is made from mushrooms. They also make pizza priced reasonably.
Read moreTaco is filled with lettuce tomato choice of chickn or steak and vegan cheese...in a word: underwhelming. Original owner runs this location.
Pros: All vegetarian
Cons: $6/per a taco. Plate is $18(2 tacos and rice and, Beans). Too high for this neighborhood.

Food is very bland... needs more flavoring - Edit
They have great customer service and a great selection of food. But the food lacks flavor. We added all the salsas they brought to the table and it still was missing a lot. I would recommend trying the spot for your self but I don’t think we will return.

Underwhelming - Edit
I’m not sure what the hype is all about. The food lacks any basic flavors and is literally just the most bland food I’ve ever had, especially at a Mexican restaurant. Plus the first item I ordered was not vegan, Chile Relleno, she told me sorry we use eggs... Nice service but definitely would never return.

I was whelmed with my experience. I got a quesedilla and tried some tamal, and unfortunately didn’t find it had much flavor. I wouldn’t be eager to try it again, but I also wouldn’t refuse to go back.

Good! - Edit
Although the place isn't vegan, I still enjoy their options cheese-less! I really like that the don't use salt in their foods, making some options lots healthier than they would be otherwise. Their turkey avocado is awesome, their chicken pita sandwich is absolutely delicious, and their burritos (although bland to some) and great for my palette. Pretty good pizzas too!!

Average food - Edit
Sorry, but this place was only average to me. They do have brown ric, which is nice, but it's just nothing special. Way too many chopped onions in the salad, and not enough in the way of protein.
