Fantastic little Gem. - Edit
A great little place just hidden around the corner of st John's square, Blackpool.
Read moreThe menu is limited but the presentation and the quality is amazing.
The coffee alone is worth visiting, but do not deny yourself the chance to try the food.

Lovely place - Edit
Everything on the menu looked great here - we had the chickpea pancakes and a seitan dish, both of which were very tasty. Friendly staff who were still in the masks post-19/07/21 and asked for us to be when not seated. Also, loads of plants everywhere! Lovely.

Cons: Mostly vegan , so it'd be great if they removed dairy altogether

Unique and brilliant food, brilliant coffee, plants, plants, plants - Edit
Upside Down has a light, airy, modern but welcoming feel. It's a cool place but the staff are really friendly. The gorgeous plants (which are for sale) are lovely to sit amongst. The coffee here is exceptional. I've tried the espresso tasting flight, and the hand brew. The depth and complexity of flavour is really special.
Read moreSpeaking of flavour: The food. So, they serve small plates, stuff on toast: It's a café, right? But don't be fooled, this is a serious eating experience. I've been a couple of times now, just to try as many of the different offerings as I can. They're all great, each one memorable, original and unique, but my two favourites so far were: "Creeping Death" - a layer of homemade spinach pesto brings the savoury garlic depth, while on top of that is heaped smokey, tangy, rich tomato in a kind of warm salsa, which just explodes flavour, finished with earthy kale crisps. And "It Is What It Is", which is pure American junk food indulgence, but both elevated and veganised. The seitan in a crisp, nutty crumb is the best fried ch*cken you ever had. The smoked tofu is like an aged jerky. The BBQ sauce is knockout.
There's also beautiful teas expertly brewed, hand made cakes, and... Irn Bru, because this is still Blackpool.
Nobody visiting Blackpool who appreciates quality sustenance - vegan or otherwise - should skip Upside Down.

Fantastic veggie/vegan cafe! - Edit
This fab wee vegetarian/vegan cafe in the heart of Blackpool is just delightful! Great atmosphere, great service and most of all great food, with plenty of vegan options available. There's a proper chef so this is no 'Linda McC's sausages on a barm' place, really interesting food options available. Definitely recommend this place as an escape from the hotdogs and candy floss 😊

Wonderful! - Edit
I visited with my husband, mum and 2 year old son. I’m the only vegan but my husband is mostly plant-based, a bit flexitarian. We all absolutely loved the food. We tried 4 of the 6 dishes on the menu. I highly recommend the ‘Black Curse’ which is a kimchi & cheese toastie. The minty cucumber & tomato side salad was simple and delicious. We chose to make the mochas vegan-decaf and they were delightfully rich and not super-sweet like most mochas in coffee shops.
Read moreFor 2 sporty veggies the portion sizes could have been a bit larger, maybe there could be an option for a regular or large portion by adding a few £ to it.
The look is clean & bright with lots of plants which are also for sale (nice touch) with splashes of industrial copper. It’s a really lovely atmosphere to sit in.
Pros: Just enough choice, not too much. , Strong on sustainability. , Reasonably priced.
Cons: Portion sizes could be a bit bigger. , Vegetable side dishes would be great.

New menu and socially distanced - Edit
So we've all been in lockdown and these guys have just reopened. I went with a friend, you use the hand sanitiser first and someone seats you. It's all socially distanced now and I'd ring and say you're coming incase it's busy.
Read moreI had the "it is what it is." Which was a homemade corn bread tofu and Seitan too. We also tried the new coffee which is very strong, just how we like it.
I would recommend this eatery
Pros: Vegan and vegetarian only. , Oat milk
