Burnt, Cold, Forever... - Edit
I wanted to give the Veggs Benedict a chance because I tried it years ago and hated it. I liked it more this time with many more years of veganism under my belt but it was still disappointing. After looking at other people's photos on their reviews I think I understand why. The vegan bacon was tasty and the hollandaise sauce was creative. The portion was small and very cold. My potatoes were practically burnt. We waited almost an hour for our food so at that point I wasn't going to send it back. I'm always willing to try something different on a slower day. My daughter loved her kids pancakes, but my Omni husband was pretty grossed out by his dish as well. On the plus side, the staff was super friendly, there was a TV on for the kids. Everything was clean.

Perfect vegan breakfast spot! - Edit
Lake Effect is a Buffalo staple. It was featured on Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives, and is super popular as a breakfast joint. So it's very exciting that they have so many vegan options! They're owned by the same family that owns The Steer and Lake Effect is open 8 am - 3 pm and then The Steer opens at 3 pm til midnight.
Read moreAnyway it's a super cute retro diner, currently 29 people capacity due to covid but we went on a Saturday and only waited about 30 minutes. During the week I imagine there is no wait. There's also outdoor seating for when it's warm enough.
About the food! Delicious! The two vegan breakfast options are French toast with baked apples glazed with cinnamon, so tasty. Then we also got the veggs benedict which is a tofu scramble, house smoked vegan bacon, house made white toast covered in hollandaise and served with home fries. It was the perfect breakfast! We also got a side of fresh cut fries, also great, no regrets. Almond milk for coffee as well. There are also some vegan lunch items that we'll have to come back for.
Very reasonable priced as well. Would give 5 stars if I could!
Pros: Great vegan options, Very homemade
Cons: No vegan pancakes

I ordered the vegan eggs benedict which was amazing. The best and most realistic-looking vegan bacon I've ever had.

Meatloaf! - Edit
I usually get the meatloaf when I come here, which is served as either a dinner or a sandwich. The Vegan VLT is also good.
Read moreThis place is well-known for their milkshakes, but they unfortunately don't have any vegan milkshake options. The food is very good, but I've decided to withhold the 4th star until they offer a vegan shake.
Pros: Meatloaf, Old School Ambiance
Cons: No Vegan Milkshake

Worth the visit - Edit
This is a cute and traditional diner with some really great vegan options. I went for lunch and was surprised how many options they had available. I had the 'Meatless meatloaf' sandwich.
Read moreYou can get it as an entree, or on a sandwich.
All of their breads are baked on site and are very fresh.
I also had the Vegan cheesecake (split it with my partner) which was a good sized portion and very tasty.
They had soy milk for my coffee which was a nice option. I left stuffed...
I plan on going back next time I am in the Buffalo area... They had house made applewood smoked vegan bacon which I have to try next time I go ....
In my opinion, this is a must try when you are in Buffalo...
Pros: Great vegan options, Quick service, Good sized portions for the price
Cons: You may have to wait for table during busy times

Great place to dine! Fun! The staff were extremely knowledgeable about vegan food & super friendly. I tried the vegan burger with a glass of chocolate almond milk. Vegan blueberry cheesecake for dessert. Free parking right in front. Definitely recommend this place.

The burger there is really yummy. I haven't had the other options but no one I have gone with has disliked their food.
