Amazing Find

This is a delightful gem by the river. The host was warm and charming. A young lady from the kayak business above showed us the way even lending her umbrella.
My husband had Casado and I had Chalupa. You can throw everything you know about chalupa’s out the window and think delightfully fresh refried beans with soy meat, vegetables and yuca root. Beautiful presentation.
The Casado was salad with avocado, beans, minced soy meat in tomato sauce, white rice, black beans and plantain. Homemade pickles were placed on the table and a container of red pepper sauce that was delicious by itself and on top of everything.
After our meal he demonstrated how to make coffee using a sock. Not the kind out of your drawer. Served with fresh homemade coconut milk it was creamy and sweet.
Post lunch he gave us a tour through the woods for forest therapy and to meet some of his friends including white bats sleeping under a banana leaf. He was very protective of them so they wouldn’t be disturbed.
Delicious meal, educational walk and warm friendly host. I was definitely in my happy place.

Spectacular!

We had lunch here after the kayak tour (Sarapiquí Outdoor Center). The Casada was very refreshing and delicious. We also made sugarcane juice.

David, the owner, very kindly opened the restaurant for us for dinner as it is quite hard to find vegan food in this area. He said that this option may be available for other travellers if booked in advance. The dinner, desert, and vibes were phenomenal! We would highly recommend.

Delicious vegan food!

This place is wonderful! After an amazing rafting adventure with them, we were quite hungry. Their menu is all vegan and had quite some options! We ordered the traditional Taco Tico which were delicious tacos rolled up into cigar shaped taquitos. We also ordered the chalupas. We asked if they had any vegan dessert and they didn't have any in the menu. But the chef decided to make us chocolate covered bananas. It was a bit bitter because they use pure cocoa.

The staff is super friendly and you always felt welcomed. Definitely recommend doing their rafting excursion and eating here for lunch.

Pros: Delicious tacos, Friendly staff, Affordable

What a surprise!

We arrived and did not understand what was happening. Some guy was showing us all the area of the restaurant/kayak school. We went under the huge avocado tree, crossed a small lake and got to see the restaurant. An other dude guided trough the jungle and we got to meet a emerald basilisk and some plants. Beside all this adventures our food was getting cooked. It took some time but main dishes tastet awesome. We did not like the koreander tasting salad so much, but thats tico style.
Dishes are not that big but very cheap.
Plan some time if you visit!

Amazing vegan place hidden near the river

Super location near walking pathways near the river. The restaurant is associated with a kayak/rafting company. The place is wonderful. Food is quit cheap ($7) and good.

Pros: Wonderful place, Cheap food, Several choices

Cons: Simple diches but still good
