The food here is really good, v tasty and lots of options and the staff are nice. Pad Thai is 90 baht which is not bad for in a restaurant on the island and it’s covered in peanut sauce which makes it delicious

The kindest people work here. We enjoyed the fried rice and Pad Thai which were both excellent. We’ve gone 3 times, it’s never too busy. Good Thai food cooked by Thai people.

The food was awesome. We ordered too much because we skipped breakfast. We had fresh spring rolls, tempura (we’ve been wanting it but usually the breading has eggs, unless you’re at a vegan restaurant! 😍), mussaman curry, and haw mook (a spicy mashed vegetable stew with shredded curry leaves). Everything was awesome, the haw mook was FANTASTIC. We will return to try the mango sticky rice after a nap and a swim!

Everything is Vegan except for one drink that has honey in it! I had a starter plate and a side plate and was super full. The quantity for the price is really good. Very tasty and authentic Thai food. Also the man who served me was awesome and told me his favourites and helped me decide!

We ate there almost every evening when on Koh Tao. Food is cheap and delicious with many choices. Go try it, you won’t regret it!

Best vegetarian/vegan Thai food on the island - Edit
Most places on Koh Tao are either only vegan friendly and serve animal products or they serve Western-ish dishes.
Read moreLa Carotte serves proper Thai food. The menu is big and the staff friendly (although not everyone speaks English that well - which is okay because the place is vegetarian/vegan 😉).
The place was far from our hotel so we went only every other day, otherwise we'd go every single day.
We loved the pineapple basil shake (try it!), pad thai and rice soup.

We spent a week in Koh Tao. We’ve been there 5 times. If you are looking for local vegan food, go there! Without any doubt, the best place on the island. Plus, it is quite cheap compte to the other vegan restaurants. The owner is french. Lovely staff.

I love eating here, I love on the island and don’t get over that way much but whenever I do I’m so excited by the amount of vegan options and varied foods. I love the sushi they do here with pumpkin, and the spicy salads are also delicious

Disappointing - not worth the walk - Edit
Was pleased to spot this place when we arrived off the catamaran and decided to return in the evening even though our guesthouse is right up the north end of the beach.

The sauce was very thick and a dark browny green colour not characteristic of green curry. There were a lot of potatoes bulking it out and although there were three large slices of red chilli with a fair amount of seeds in them it was not spicy at all. Aubergine was also undercooked and rubbery.
A real shame as the restaurant is nice to be in, staff friendly, prices reasonable and they have a lot of good reviews. Maybe just an off night?

I’d just arrived in Koh Tao, checked into my hostel and ventured out to get some food. Stopped here, the (European) guy who took my order was pretty friendly. When ordering I told him about my peanut allergy, and I couldn’t have anything with peanuts, peanut oil or cooked in the same pans. 20 minutes later I am throwing up on the side of the road. Now it’s not his fault, it was a Thai lady cooking the food so maybe it got lost in translation or he didn’t explain or understand properly I’m not sure. But it was still disappointing. I’d finished my meal before the reaction kicked in and it was tasty before it came back up 😂 If you’re not allergic you will be fine and definitely give it a go!

Tea was hot and strong 💪🏿 Broad Noodle Wrap with seitan sausage and tamarind sauce was fresh and flavorful.😛 I think any Thai veggie restaurant you go to might be similar to Mai Kaidee menu, With the exception of pumpkin hummus. So I see a small similarity on paper.
