Very good - Edit
Stumbled across this place purely by chance and I was hungry , so it was perfect timing. Tempeh burger with sweet potato fries were great as was the Kombucha. Modern, bright, friendly , lots of solo travellers too. Breakfast bowls also look good

Home made vegan pizza - Edit
The pizza was a bit on the simple side. It tasted good, but since I don’t eat onions or garlic, the toppings felt somewhat limited. That might just be the local style, though perhaps a more minimal approach is common here.
Read moreOverall, it was fine. I had a ginger lemon drink on the side, which I enjoyed, and I really appreciated that there was a vegan option available. I was hoping to order a side dish, but that was only possible with a burger, so a bit more flexibility would definitely improve the experience.
Still, I was happy to find a vegan-friendly restaurant

A little disappointing - Edit
Firstly the space is beautiful! Very leafy and tranquil. And friendly staff.
Read moreI wanted to try a traditional Guatemalan dish, so ordered the pepian - a thick hearty spiced stew. The stew itself was very rich and flavourful, but the included oyster mushrooms were tough and chewy. For a side you could choose from tortillas or tamal, I went with tamal which was a very dry, dense cornbread with no filling (not what I expected).
My partner’s dish was worse though, he ordered a burger with a seitan patty which was so chewy and rubbery and had a distinct wheat meat flavour. It tasted just like my failed early attempts at seitan back home 🥲 Definitely wouldn’t recommend the seitan option. Was pretty skimpy with the fries too.

Pros: 100% vegan, lovely decor
Cons: bland rubbery seitan, didn’t love the pepian

Lovely rooftop, great food, and excellent desserts - Edit
Nice spot with a rooftop that has a pretty good sunset view, plus several other comfortable seating areas. The staff were very friendly and the food was great. The desserts are especially amazing. Note: the juice stand directly in front is not fully vegan, but if you walk past it, you’ll find a truly great vegan experience inside.

amazing vegan food! - Edit
Guatemalan dish pepian in a vegan version, I personally LOVED the mushroom musaka and can recommend the hot chocolate! The portions are quite small given the price unfortunately (the pizza is tinyyyyy) but I would always go back. Very friendly service but a bit slow. Nice seating and terrace

Traditional Guatemalan Food (if they have it) - Edit
I was excited to eat at Bruja for sole reason of them having the section on their menu for traditional Central American food. I had the pepían with tamalito. It was very good! I also had a ginger cardamom kombucha which was interesting to try. I was a little disappointed as they said they no longer serve the rellenitos and they also didn’t have mole, unclear if they were out or also no longer serve that.

Magnificent - Edit
One of the best vegan meals I have had in some time.
Read moreThe staff were friendly, attentive, and efficient. The restaurant was spottleessly clean, and the menu was extensive, offering a modern vegan twist on Guatemalan classics. I had the pepian as a main course, which was excellent. I dont usually have desserts, but the Mole was mind-blowing with a rich chocolate sauce that I haven't experienced for years.
The best meal I had in my two weeks in this beautiful country. Ten out of ten!

Mind-blowing - Edit
I felt welcomed as soon as I walked in. The space has lots of seating with lots of plants, cool furniture, and a patio. Now the food and service are the stars of the show. I had the pepin that was the best meal I had in Guatemala and finished with the delicious crepe w/strawberries, kiwi & almond butter. Kevin and the team worked together to ensure seamless service for the whole visit. Highly recommend to vegan, vegetarian, and non-vegetarians.

Damn… - Edit
I almost bounced when I walked in for dinner as it had smoothie bar vibes up front. The server that greeted me promptly was so kind, and genuine, and patient with my broken Spanish that I decided to stay. I’m so glad I did. I went right down the list with the traditional dishes. The Pepian was shockingly delicious, rich, and balanced… something I didn’t know was missing from my life. The dessert mole was sensational. I thought the bananas would be fresh, but they were flambéd, which added to the dish’s allure. 10/10 would recommend.

They had a lot of food to choose from but weren't actually hungry so just had tea and a tasty crepe. The service was good and the view from the well hidden roof terrace fab. Recommend.
