Espectacular - Edit
Nunca desilude. Comida espectacular, saborosa, e onde encontro o melhor hambúrguer de sempre!! O King Burger, claro.

Never disappoints. Spectacular food, tasty, and where I find the best burger ever!! The King Burger, of course. Whenever I go there, I have to order one of these to take away.
The "rice without octopus", a typical dish in Portugal, is very good indeed, and the lasagna with mash, a mega pleasant surprise.
It's well worth it, and it's a place to go, whenever I have an excuse. : D

Sadly not tasty - Edit
Unfortunately not so good: The consistency of the steak was funny and the cheese balls tasted of mashed potatoes. The fries were too soft. There is much tastier food in Lisboa.

nothing special - Edit
I tried fish & chips. It was okay, but nothing special, and there are many places in Lisbon where you can eat better, especially for this price (9,50€, other main dishes were between 9 and 15€ if I remember well). the location is good for the tourists, but if you have time I recommend to move from the tourist city center and try some other place

Try the Francesinha - Edit
I have to confess I went there expecting to try the vegan feijoada, but they only have on Thursdays and Saturdays, so I went for the francesinha which is a traditional Porto dish and was very happy I got this option. It was very tasty and a big portion. Staff are friendly and the service was good.

Bom, bem servido e barato - Edit
Descobri o Kong faz pouco tempo e super recomendo. É perto do meu serviço e oferece, ao almoço, 2 opções de pratos do dia a preço justo ( acho que são 7 euros). A comida é muito boa e o atendimento excelente! As sobremesas também são ótimas. Vale a pena conferir (;

No monkey business - Edit
Imagine the following: you are on a business trip in Lisbon and it's time for lunch. Your colleagues decide to have lunch at a place that only serves meat and fish. What do you do? Of course! You fire up the Happy Cow app on your phone and you find the nearest vegan place. And that's exactly what I did.
Read moreLuckily, there are a lot of vegan restaurants in Lisbon and I had the choice of five of them within a 5 minute walking range from my colleague's eatery. There was one problem: it was 11.30 and most vegan places open at 12.00 or 12.30. While "Kong" officially opens at 12.00, the door was open at 11.50 and I was welcome. I explained that I had to finish my lunch before my carnivorous colleagues did. The waitress suggested vegan octopus rice. It's a traditional Portuguese dish and it's something the kitchen can prepare quickly. Great idea, let's have octopus rice!
While the chef did his (her?) work I decided to take the opportunity to take pictures of the restaurant. Also, I asked the waitress why the restaurant is called "Kong". She explained that it refers to powerful yet plant eating animals like gorilla's, elephants and giraffes (hence the decoration).
Before the pictures were done, the octopus rice was served. It s a fairly simple dish: risotto like rice with a limited selection of vegetables in a broth. Mushrooms replace the octopus. While simple, it was tasty because the chef used just the right amount of spices and the broth was just enough to flavour the meal but not dominate it. Also, the ingredients seem to be of fairly good quality, which also does a meal a lot of good.
And: yes, I made it back to my colleague's restaurant just before they finished their meat and fish lunch. They noticed I looked very happy and satisfied. King kong did a good job!
Pros: cheap, decent food, quick service

Goods and bads - Edit
I had the vegan nuggets wich were made of seitan that i found very spongy and not savory, only the crust and the sauce was good. Tried the fish and chips, the "fish" was good but the potatoes where also mushy inside and without flavour. The best was the chocolate mousse wich was the best vegan one i ever had.

Stones in food - Edit
The food itself was nice but I has several stones in it ?!?!?! The waitress just said sorry didn't offer anything and was even pissed when I didn't tip. I don't know if this is just bad luck but I don't see how stones get into food. Will not go there again

Confort food for vegans - Edit
A nice place with good food and friendly personnel. The prices are accessible with rates ranging 6 to 14 euros per dish. It's mostly confort food like burgers or francesinha but served in generous doses. A time well spent.

Good food! - Edit
Good food and cute environment. Staff was extremely friendly! My husband and I shared the spicy cheese dumplings (yum!), the seitan steak (with pepper sauce) and a francesinha. Very tasty and we had enough to take home as leftovers. The food is not light/healthy, but sure is delicious!

As sobremesas tambem eram muitos bons..

Great food at a reasonable price - Edit
This place is located conveniently near the big arch in the centre of town and was open during the late afternoon unlike other options in the area. They have plates of the day plus a medium-sized menu. The food we ordered (“fish” and chips and the dish of the day) was really tasty - the side salad was great. The local craft beer and house wine was also delicious and good value for money. The waitress was super friendly and helpful. Only criticism was the slightly uncosy atmosphere and lack of outdoor seating, but the food was great

The vegan gorilla king - Edit
Kong is a very nice place to go to.
Read moreThe space is very calm and allows for a quiet meal time. It's right in the center of Lisbon witch is a fantastic spot to be on. The staff is friendly and the food was very tasty.
A place that checking the hole menu is worth it.
Some of the fried entries were a bit to much on the oily side, nevertheless tasty.
The francesinha dish has a good souse but the spiciness level was a bit hit for it to have no warning on the menu; sometimes the souse completely overlaid the rest of the ingredients of the dish.
The food portions are very good and I am sure no one will go hungry, after all they are gorilla portions.
The price/quality ratio is good.

Amazing experience - Edit
The atmosphere and decoration is amazing, very hip and stylish concept but still somehow chic and cozy. The service was great, our waiter was kind and attentive and also the food as well as the wine came very fast. For the food - the starters were bomb, the fries are completely homemade. But the „fish“ was very authentic while the famous portugese dish they veganized wasn‘t really our thing. We went there a second time and had a burger and the sandwich. Both were very good, would recommend. The sandwich could have a little more salad-like things, but the burgers are definitely perfect.
Read moreDesserts - best mousse au chocolat I‘ve ever had and the coconut pudding is surpringsingly bomb, though both were very sweet. The chocolate cake is portuguese-style and moist.
Pros: amazing service and atmosphere, prices
Cons: fries aren‘t good

The Ultimate Indulgence - Edit
Kong’s extremely nice waitress and chef could be one of the reasons to go there regularly, or their changing daily menus - but the main reason is really the delicious food. They serve very indulgent classics, veganised, such as burgers or fish and chips, but always keep some healthy choices at hand such as the salad of the day of the seitan steak with veggies or salad. The perfect spot to bring a non-veggie or to go wild with that chocolate mousse.
