Good Burgers!

Portion sizes are small here, but very filling. We tried all versions of the burgers (we came multiple times!) and they are quite nice although you only get the burger itself and some menu items are only available after 11am (like the vegan croquettes)

Vegan options and spacious dining

They do not do a set menu as per previous reviews, there is a variety of vegan options - some available at 10am and others at 11am.
We ordered the fried cutlets burger for breakfast - they did not come out looking like the picture on the menu, it was a sandwich with no other sides or sauces. Portions are good (reflective of Japanese portions) and the burger/sandwich was filling tasty. Staff were friendly and restaurant was clean and spacious.

Great organic cafe with options

We ordered the curry set, cutlet burger and croquettes set. The menu clearly specifies vegan options. Everything was delicious. The burger bread was amazing! We also got the scones, chocolate fudge and chocolate tart for dessert, also delicious. On the pricier side but to be expected for an organic cafe.

Pros: Clearly marked, multiple vegan options

Adorable café with good vegan options

I had the lunch set with the seitan katsu and it was delicious. This isn’t a fully vegan place but there are a lot of vegan options (including cakes) and everything vegan is cooked separately.

Super Burger !

Friendly cafe with tasty vegan food!

The cafe itself is very spacious, bright, and welcoming. We were seated instantly and the staff were very friendly. One guest had a peanut allergy and this was easily accommodated.

The food was very fresh and healthy. We all opted for vegan tempeh burgers. The buns were super soft and tasted home-made, and everything was quite tasty. Would reccomend coming here, as it was enjoyed by both vegans and non-vegans.

Relaxed cafe with great options

Went in for lunch and had a great set menu of pickles, rice, miso and burger with a salad, bread and humus on the side. Scone and coffee to end things.

Incredibly tasty, if small portions.

Got caught out with no cash as they didn’t take cards when I visited.

What an incredible restaurant!

We had lunch at Kissa Saeki and it was absolutely incredible. We both had a set, once with Tempeh and the other with vegan cutlets. Both were really tasty. We also tried the scones and rasperry cake, which were delicious as well. The restaurant is really nice and close to the Atomic Bomb Dome and Atomic Bomb Memorial. The waitress was very attentive and kind. If you go to Hiroshima, this is the place to go!

Nice vegan set meal

There are 4 different vegan options as mains for the set meal. Nothing special but still nice, the portion size could have been a bit bigger. The raspberry cake is really good.

Tasty little set meal

Set meals come with fermented rice, miso soup, salad and pickles plus your choice of main. I got seitan cutlets and my partner got burgers. The food was very tasty, especially the cutlet. He had a blackcurrant lassi which we're not sure if was alcoholic, and I had the chicory latte (I didn't like it, but he did, it was very bitter). Cute little place and they kept refilling our water. Meals were 1200yen each and you get 150yen off your drink bringing them to 450yen each. The menu is very clear and the staff know what vegan is.

Clearly marked as vegan cooked separately

Not far from Peace Memorial Park. Menu clearly marked as ‘vegan cooked separately’, which is essential for me as someone with a meat allergy.
Reasonable selection of food. Tasted just ok, fairly bland but in keeping with most vegan places in Japan.
Wouldn’t stop me going again as you have to have the food when you can get it.
It was clean, quiet, and nicely presented.

Pros: Vegan food cooked separately., Accessible location. , Serves alcohol.

Cons: Could be more seasoning in the food. , Serves meat.

Cute cafe with airy, open eating space

After a whole day travelling I was so pleased to get to this place, where the menu clearly labelled the vegan options. Couldn’t believe my luck to get a chicory latte here too! Owners were very nice, and the decor was spot on. Very welcoming and delicious food.

Pros: Good vegan options, clearly labelled , Nice decor , Good value

Exquisitely cooked food in a nice atmosphere

Find the restaurant by searching for 'Kissa Saeki' in Maps.
The food is really good, nicely presented on wooden tablets. The meal set includes fermented brown rice, miso soup and different small vegetables.
The menu is about 90 percent vegan, except for a chicken option for the burger, eggs or chicken as topping for the salad and a traditional cheesecake. Everything else is plant based and as far as I could tell pretty delicious.

Pros: Basically fully vegan, Clearly labelled allergens, Very friendly staff

Cons: A tad pricy, though

So fresh & delicious

I would give 5 stars if I could.

We were recommended this spot from a local vegan and we’re so happy we went! The tempeh burger and curry were both excellent. The food tastes SO FRESH which makes sense because they take care to use organic and local ingredients. It was some of the best tempeh I’ve ever had. And the rice with the curry was some of my favorite rice in Japan.

The vibe of the restaurant is really warm and welcoming. There’s plenty of room to dine with a group or solo. The food was prepared quickly and served warm. They also offer a shop of some eco friendly products, snacks, and organic bulk items including nuts, chocolate, vegan butter, laundry soap, tooth brushes, etc.

Most of the food is vegan, but they do serve some meat dishes. The menu is very clearly labeled and the staff understand vegan, gf, etc. vegan food is prepared separately from any animal products.

When we visited (on a Saturday) there were local organic veggies and other goods for sale in front of the restaurant by a very kind man. I’m not sure how common that is but if we had kitchen access we would have gotten the veggies—they looked like the freshest veggies I’ve seen in Japan!!

Highly recommend making a visit to this cafe. It’s hard to find vegan food in Japan, including in Hiroshima. This spot is well worth the trip!

Pros: Organic, Delicious and fresh food, Warm vibe

Cons: Serves some meat

Multiple delicious vegetarian options! Got a lunch set with chickpea croquettes and the fried gluten (seitan). Also the black currant soda. All excellent. Friend got a lentil burger and was less impressed, though.

Cons: None

5-star restaurant with small dry food & book shop

Pitch-perfect lunch experience. I went for the set meal with tempeh as a main since I hadn't come across tempeh in Japanese restaurants for quite a while. I didn't regret my choice. The tempeh was of great quality with a subtle nutty taste that matched the boiled and pickled vegetables around it perfectly. The miso soup had a heartwarming umami flavour. The fermented brown rice was a great contrast to the bland rice I had to eat elsewhere so often while in Japan.

I really liked the relaxed and comfy atmosphere with calming music, too. It felt like a safe haven after I had done my obligatory A-bomb sightseeing which left lots of disturbing images in my mind.

The little section with dry food and books on sale was quite attractive, too. Veganism is not yet widespread in Japan and the option to grab a (Japanese-language) book about how to become vegetarian or vegan after a delicious lunch is great advocacy. That alone should be rewarded with a 5th star.

Pros: Menu largely vegan, Dry food and books available, Outstanding friendliness of staff
