Open and many vegan options - Edit
Many vegan options ( probably 70% vegan overall). In a time when a majority of vegan restaurants have closed throughout japan this one fortunately remains and is near many tourist areas. Yay@

Tasty and healthy vegan lunch set - Edit
I had the sembe lunch set that came with Miso soup, brown rice and a side salad. The price was very reasonable and staff was nice. Service is also fast.

Delicious Food! - Edit
Truly excellent food in a cute cafe setting! We stopped by for breakfast and had the vegan breakfast set and the tempeh burger. Everything was so delicious! The breakfast set included three slices of bread with hummus with pink peppercorns and a salad, a soy yogurt with brown sugar, and a cup of coffee or tea. The tempeh burger was perfectly cooked, and the sauce was delicious!
Read moreI had wanted to try their chickpea croquettes, but since they didn’t serve them before 11 am, we ended up coming back for lunch later in the day.
For lunch we had the chickpea croquette set meal (which included a salad, picked veggies, miso soup, and fermented rice) and the vegan curry and salad plus fried wheat gluten cutlet. It was a really satisfying meal!
They have very few non-vegan dishes, and menu states that they cook the vegan and non-vegan food separately. Given how the majority of their food is vegan, I think it will be very easy to make the restaurant fully vegan, so that we can all give it the five stars it truly deserves!

Relax and Sip - Edit
Eating breakfast in Kissasaeki feels like entering a chill wave lofi music video. It’s relaxed, peaceful, and the food is excellent. The menu is clearly labeled in English and Japanese with many vegan options to choose from. There are different things available for breakfast (8am-11am), lunch (11am on), and all day (8am on). For breakfast, we had their breakfast salad set, tempeh burger, and cookies. To drink we had earl grey tea and soy milk hot chocolate. Everything was lovely.
Read morePros: Lots of clearly labeled vegan options., Very chill, lovely vibe.

Very tasteful - Edit
A very cozy restaurant with nice staff. The food was very tasty and there was a good vegan selection. A few dishes are not vegetarian, but on the menu everything is very well declared (also in English).

My favorite cafe - Edit
This is my favorite spot in Hiroshima (I’m a resident). Food is delicious, the staff are friendly, and the price is right. The seitan cuts are my main jam, but the lentil burger, tempeh, and curry are also great.
Read moreThis place has been in business for over 40 years. When the son took over, he went full-on with the vegan epicness. But it still has that classic kissaten (tradition Japanese cafe) vibe. Everything is sourced local, and you can buy organic and vegan goods on site too. Every Saturday a guy sets up out front with local organic produce.
This place is the bees knees.
Pros: Delicious food , Affordable, Friendly people and authentic atmosphere
Cons: Closed on Sundays

Great tasting fresh food - Edit
Ate few times here during my stay at Hiroshima as knew I would get a good meal. The vegan breakfast was nice and light to start day and the brown rice coffee that comes with it tasted really interesting (in best way). Their set lunches are super filling , I had the croquettes which were so tasty and could eat bowls of their miso rice alone it’s that tasty. Really friendly staff, they even gave me a booklet of local vegan/ veg restaurants to visit on my trip! Really good value for such fresh and big portioned meals.

I was happy to find a vegan place that serves breakfast, but was very disappointed by the small portions. It wasn't cheap either, so I expected more from it.

Delicious vegan cuisine in a convenient location - Edit
This is hands-down one of the most delicious meals I've ever had. The staff are incredibly kind and speak English well. There's also plenty of English provided on the menu for those who aren't comfortable reading Japanese. I know I'll be back every time I have to come into Hiroshima city to get that chocolate cake again!
Read moreFor vegans in Japan, it can often be a struggle to know where we can find food and what's safe to eat. Finding Kissa Saeki was such a relief because they're not only forthcoming about what is in each dish but they also feature mostly vegan/vegetarian dishes. Tax was included in the price so maybe not so bad price-wise but still a little hungry afterwards. I had the rice ball set and it was a shame that both rice balls were the same.

Decent breakfast - Edit
Came in for breakfast, which was a simple salad, bread, hummus, soygurt and coffee/tea. Simple, but no complaints. Hummus was exceptional. Nice vibe though very quiet on a Tuesday morning.

Beyond awesome!! - Edit
OMG. This is an amazing place. A food truck in front of the shop selling the fruits and veggies used inside for lunch. The food inside was set. I had the tempeh burger on their recommendation. Unreal. I almost bought a second. But then I saw the vegan chocolate cake. Amazing! I will post pictures. I also had organic coffee. Best meal of my entire trip.

Small servings, somewhat expensive - Edit
I had the chickpea burger salad, hot cocoa, and chocolate cake. The food was nice, just sort of small servings (I had to hit a konbini afterwards to fill up). All of that was 2200 yen. The cocoa wasn't super flavoursome. Good food if you like raw.

Very tasty meal set at an affordable price. Just fair warning that this place is very Western-inspired so if you’re looking for a traditional Japanese meal, you won’t find it here. But I was thankful for all the vegetarian protein options!

Good macrobiotic food in Hiroshima - Edit
Almost the whole menu is vegan and some of it is gluten free. Typical Japanese macrobiotic cafe food but very good. The fried tempeh was crispy and delicious. Also, they sell nuts, sugar, soy sauce, cooking oil, liquid soap, etc in bulk. As well as some other vegan or macrobiotic goods.

Great organic spot - Edit
I was so happy to find this place in Hiroshima! While it is not entirely vegan, it is organic and offers a decent variety of vegan drinks and lunch sets. I came in a little before noon, and it was getting quite busy. I ordered the chickpea croquette lunch set (miso soup, rice, chickpea croquettes with vegan white sauce, assorted mini vegetable sides) and plum kombucha. Everything was delicious. I'd like to come back again to try their other lunch sets, drinks, and desserts!

Cheap and filling meal - Edit
Closed Sunday (found out the hard way) and we were turned away around 6pm on a Monday as they were closing early. Definitely a breakfast or early lunch spot as they seem to basically be open only as long as they have food to sell and it sells out!
Read moreWe had the chickpea croquets and fried gluten meat sets. At under 1000 yen a set this a pretty sizable and affordable meal.
The fried gluten was a little bland but the small amount of dressing it had was delicious. The chickpea croquets were the winner for me, definitely recommend.

Simple but so yummy! - Edit
The vegan sets are incredible. Good portions for reasonable price, also big plus for option to get more rice for 100¥. Everything was so tasty and I’m still trying to figure out what was the little white cube on my plate that tasted like nothing i ever ate before! They offer some vegan desserts and drinks too.
