This is good for bread only - Edit
There aren’t many vegan options unless you are looking for plain bread!! If you want bread- go here! If you want fun pastries, this isn’t the place.

Scant options - Edit
I had expectations since this place had been favorited but was confused when I got there. There are a couple of breads, overpriced for the size, and that's it.

Rare spot to get bread in Japan - Edit
This is really just a place for vegans to get bread - the sweet options aren’t suitable, but there are various types of bread that are suitable, all allergens clearly labelled so you can avoid the pesky milk that plagues 99% of Japanese bread. There are also a small number of other items to go with the bread, like jam, peanut butter, olive spread and basil pesto. None of it’s cheap though. #Veganuary

Think of it as special occasion bread - it’s way too expensive for everyday eating!

Limited accidentally vegan options - Edit
Allergens are really clear but out of the dozens of items, only a couple of breads don't have egg or milk. The bread was fresh, but I would have liked more options and something in the cafe. Prices were quite expensive. We got raisin bread, corn bread, and focaccia - they were nice but didn't taste like the versions we were used to! They also had a large baguette I'd have liked to try.

All products have allergen labeling in English - Edit
All products have allergen labeling in English, so it's easy to tell if it's summer or vegetarian. But there were no vegan desserts, I only found bread with raisins (which was good). And to order drinks, the separate cafeteria counter is only open from 10am to 5pm.

Delicious but pricy - Edit
A great variety of European-style bread that satisfied my German cravings for savoury seedy bread after not having been home for months. I also spent a lot of money on various spreads. It was great to find basil pesto without cheese, dried tomato spread and Ratatouille sold as a spread. A great little escape from Japanese food if needed.
Read moreThey also have a bunch of sweet options that I did not feel like trying. Note that the almond butter here contains almonds only, no dairy (as the Himeji specialty would).
Pros: Allergens clearly labelled in English, Many vegan options for a Japanese bakery
Cons: Pricy
