Serves meat, vegan options available. A small, light and airy, wooden-paneled restaurant with six tables indoors. Has air-con. No veg dishes but dishes can be made vegan by omitting the meat. No English spoken, use a translator. Has a peanut sauce that can be mixed with vegetable dishes. Few options in the area. Open Mon-Sun 11:00am-10:00pm.

Can make a satisfying vegan option

I discovered this place by chance while walking around the town near the train station. All of their meals have some sort of meat, that they cook at the table in front of you in heated oil. However, when I looked at their menu, I pointed only to the vegetable part of each dish, which apparently comes with most orders. When I sat down they still wanted to bring me both sliced meat, and then were going to bring chicken to cook in the oil. I explained to them with my translator on my phone that I just wanted the vegetables. So they left the one plate of vegetables on my table and brought a second!

They bring a lot of cabbage, which I found went really well with the rich and tasty peanut sauce they bring for dipping - and they will refill the peanut sauce upon request. So that was a good protein option.

Then they also bring two different kinds of expensive high-quality mushrooms, along with carrots and noodles, that goes really well with the bowl of rice, plus the good soy sauce they provide. I also added more peanut sauce to the veggie rice I created. There were two other hot sauces that I didn't like, but you might. See pics below.

In the end, the normal small plate option that I pointed to originally cost 200 Bhat. But for the double veggie plate I got, they charged me only 175 Bhat. A good deal and a nice option in a city without a lot of vegan places.

Turned into a great rice, noodles and mushroom veggie plate, with soy sauce and peanut sauce to add as your option at Kinn's The Buta in Udon Thani
