Favorite ramen

I am obsessed with the Vegan Tonyu Red ramen. It has a delicious, spicy soy based broth with lots of veggies & tofu. I hope to try other vegan menu items in the future.

Go for the Miso

I ordered Vegan Gyoza (pan-fried dumplings with spinach shell, stuffed with onions, seven grains, chives, and shitake) and Miso ramen. The Gyoza were kind of bland. However, the ramen was very flavorful and included more vegetables than I expected.

Pros: clearly-marked vegan options, customer service, outdoor seating

Cons: crowded

The vegan options are really good!

This place is not called Marukin Ramen anymore it is called Kinboshi Ramen. Even though there is a few vegan options, they are the only ones you really need to go there for. Compared to other local ramen places that have vegan options, this place keeps me coming back for more every time I want Ramen. The Noodles have the best texture and flavor than most places around, the broth makes me cry because its so good. The simple add ons are just right and somehow the chef keeps it consistent every single time. The local beer offerings and the sake just make it so much more special. Yes dont forget the appetizers, one last thing to add is the curry…. I would give it 5 stars but happy cow told me since it is not fully Vegan it cant get a full star set. I recommend it to anyone who is seeking a nice simple delicious bowl of Vegan Ramen, they also sell regular Ramen with meat but I don’t eat that stuff. Enjoy😉

Pros: Simple and real good, Its Ramen made right , The only place that keeps me coming back

Cons: Their seasonal vegan options go away too fast

Miso over Shio

There are seemingly few places in Portland to get vegan ramen. We tried the vegan Miso and Shio (non-spicy), and we both liked the Miso better. There Miso had better flavor, but fewer “toppings”, whereas the Shio was pretty light but came with veggies and tofu. The vegan gyozas were alright. Service was friendly and fast. Portions were decent.

The menu rotates but apparently always has a vegan option. I had the spicy ramen and it was perfect!

Pros: Two vegan options, Spicy and regular

Cons: Not fully vegan, Menu rotates so check ahead for the dish you want

Vegan Options!

A friend & I visited Marukin this past Wednesday because of their vegan-friendly ramen options. We both had a bowl of that day's vegan offering (the shoyu ramen). While the portion was two-meal-sized for $10, we both felt the broth was on the bland side, the veggies were sparse, & the noodles weren't very noteworthy either. I'm glad Marukin consistently offers a vegan ramen option, but I do not believe I'll be visiting again for a while.

Loved my vegan ramen with the spicy broth! So much in the bowl, it was so tasty. Went down nicely with the iced green tea matcha.

I've had lots of ramen in Tokyo and I still haven't topped the ramen at Marukin in Portland!

Spicy Vegan Ramen

Nice ramen place serving different vegan options depending on the day. They offer spicy or non-spicy. I had the Sunday vegan option (with soy milk) made spicy and it was very good!
