Amazing place - Edit
This tapas-style restaurant was one the best meals I experienced in Tokyo. The staff was very nice, there was a comforting, social vibe at the counter, and the food was absolutely amazing. The seitan teriyaki in particular shouldn't be missed! Price wise, the house wine is ¥600, 1 teriyaki skewer is ¥300, 4 gyozas are ¥500; perfectly reasonable for Tokyo in my opinion. There are about 10-15 tapas options in the menu. Location is on the 4th floor, the first 3 floors being the Doutor café.

A little vegan nook - Edit
I found this place after arriving in Tokyo at 7pm and feeling the need to just eat and relax. Kiboko is on the 4th floor of a building over Doutor coffee shop, and you have to climb 4 flights of stairs, but it's worth it. It's a small bar overlooking a busy street, and most of the food is finger food intended for sharing, but as a solo traveller I found 2 plates to be a good meal. I had the seitan skewer and the coriander gyoza, plus an organic beer. The flavours were just wonderful, especially the skewer, which I don't recommend for sharing as you'll want to eat the whole thing! The staff are lovely too.

Very disappointing - Edit
The main dishes were all cold dishes, incredibles small. The venue is horrible - could do with a coat of paint!!
Read moreNo idea why the portions are so small - not a taps vibe

Pros: Good gyoza and spring rolls , Nice staff

TIPS ON HOW TO GET THERE
Read moreA lot of people say that this restaurant is hard to find...I believe the location via HappyCow is correct. If you follow the directions from there, and you see a big shop on the street corner called Doutor (font can be slightly hard to read, but the sign is big and illuminated, you shouldn't miss it) then you are on the right street. Doutor is just north of KiboKo. The signage for KiboKo can be easy to miss. If you walk down the street from Doutor, towards the location of KiboKo as indicated by HappyCow, look for a silver sign on the building's wall. The sign will be labeled for each floor of the building. The sign says that KiboKo is located on the 4th floor, which it is. Enter the building and walk to the 4th floor. The hardest part is finding the silver sign.
REVIEW
My friend and I came here and got three plates to share amongst ourselves. At the time they had a summer special on their menu, oben, which was light and tasty. We also got the chili con carne and the Spanish omelette. The staff was very kind to us and was happy to explain how they made the "egg" part of the omelette when I asked, and answered all of our other questions regarding the menu, (granted, we spoke to them in Japanese, so I cannot attest to their English abilities). They also have a good drink menu with vegan wines and kombucha.
Pros: Friendly staff

Small restaurant serving small, taps style vegan food. - Edit
Spent ages trying to find this place but eventually found it. Nice organic run business with very friendly staff. Menu is in English as well as Japanese. The food was nice, but just too expensive for what we got.

Good food, good wine - Edit
Top floor restaurant offering small dishes and quality vegan organic wine and beer. Went there Friday night and sat at the bar. Dishes are small but delicious. Served by two lovely ladies, which one knew little English. Nice place to relax after visiting the hustle and bustle of downtown Shinjuku.

Relaxed vegan bar - Edit
A great informal vegan bar with a lot of small dishes to chose from. Me and my partner had quite many of them and shared all together. Also good wine and drinks - I can really recommend the kombucha cocktail if you like kombucha 😉 Friendly staff.

Oasis in Shinjuku - Edit
This place was great! Our hotel was around the corner, and this made for a terrific place to hang out late at night, drink vegan wine, eat small plates, and plan the next day. Friendliest proprietor ever. Food was really nice, wine was super inexpensive (around ¥800 per bottle). Lovely tables with nice view. Close to the National Park, and quieter end of Shinjuku. Nice place to get away from the craziness for an hour or two.

Delicious - Edit
We really enjoyed the food here. All vegan menu. Small portions - i.e. 1 skewer ... You have to order a from the drinks menu, can’t just have water. The wine and beer were delicious though.

Bad muffin day - Edit
I visited this restaurant in April 2016 and unfortunately did not like the food. I had a rice dish with some Bolognese like sauce and a muffin which both were really not good. However the location was nice and the staff tried to be helpful although their English was practically non existant. I guess I just ordered the wrong things . . .

Decent if desperate but could be better - Edit
Considering how hard it is in Tokyo to find food I had my hopes up with these reviews. Not much food options but OK. Would be better if they had more options but acceptable

KiboKo: Cozy, friendly, delicious vegan food - Edit
Stepped out of the cold (and up the 4 floors of stairs) for an early dinner, so early that I was the first customer of the evening. Loved my freshly-made dumplings, pasta, and wine. People have noted that portions are small, but 4 dumplings were perfect and the pasta was ample. I will definitely return. :)

Amazing and unique - Edit
Delicious dinner (the soups!!) loved the soup, gyoza, and omelette. We didn’t end up eating the teriyaki “meat” as found it too soft and wet texture. Enjoyed the wine, atmosphere and experience!!

Incredibly delicious - Edit
This is my favorite vegan restaurant in Tokyo. The beef yakitori made from ofu, the gyoza with coriander, the oden, and the dessert, were fabulous. The staff and owner are also very friendly. Vegan sushi and cheese on Monday, can't wait to try these!

Amazing food but small portions - Edit
The menu said that the restaurant is tapas style so the portions would be small. We ordered the dumplings, teriyaki skewers and the pasta dish. Everything was at the very top delicious. But the pasta was more expensive than the rest so I expected a bigger portion. We had to eat something else later.

I wanted to love this place... - Edit
I wanted to love this place, but I didn't. Food was nice, but nothing spectacular. Portion sizes were small (intended for sharing like tapas). We were the only customers at 7pm on a Sunday, so the vibe was a little sad. Our meal came to ¥5400 for 2 people.

All vegan no worries - Edit
Cute little joint with limited seating. Felt like a typical small Japan bar setting where one chef cooks and you can watch if seated at the bar. It was good to get this experience especially when you can't get this in Piss Alley being a vegan. Food blew me away, very gourmet and amazing combinations of ingredients used. Highly recommend the tomato stew, pot of mushrooms and potatoes in warm oil and creamy pasta. For beverage, the relaxing tea was really relaxing!

If you go alone prepare for the bar... - Edit
If you go alone prepare for the bar, they will not let you sit at a table if you are alone... doesnt matter if ALL tables are open, you must sit at the bar. I guess its a rule.. would really enjoy sitting by a window, however it does not matter, you sit by the stove. HOT! If you go alone during summer prepare for the heat... Very good food, I am just bitter I cannot watch the view as restaurant is very quiet..
