Crazy experience! - Edit
A mountain of food. Honestly I heard you get free rice here but it’s way more than that. They have a keenness to show that vegans also need protein so they offer you a free protein-based dish (I got fried tofu in tomato sauce) and they served it with rice and a beansprout salad, and then showed me how to grab a bit of everything and fed me the mouthful 😂
Read moreThere was also a kind of soup and some other dressing/soup things but I had already ordered vegan chicken in bbq sauce and 6 spring rolls which I super regretted once I saw how much food they give you for free. Thankfully they only brought out 3 spring rolls and that was still too much for me on top of everything else!
I only paid for my 3x spring rolls and the vegan chicken which was 170k VD (£5.20) so honestly a literal heap of food for a fiver and a crazy, authentic experience is a no brainer.
Have to say, not 100% sure what they do with the wasted food, I would have asked but didn’t want it to come across badly in communication. Fantastic restaurant but just consider asking them not to have all the extras or not even ordering much at all!
Also the owner (I think) gave me a laminated sheet with his story and clearly by dining here you are helping a small business and the children he donates to so you can feel good about coming here, not just for the tasty food but also that you are contributing to helping out the local community.

Only ordered spring rolls and some fried veg. Free tofu, soup, and more. Owner is so lovely, helped me to work out how to eat all the components, even fed me (gotta embrace it!).

The food was just incredible. Everything flawless, flavoursome and scrumptious. Very generous portions and fast service. Very attentive staff. Amazing variety on the menu. We ordered the chicken, beef and pork ribs and it was shocking how good they all were. A VEGANS DREAM.

Amazing restaurant with a heartwarming story - Edit
We had the best time here. The food was simply delicious and the staff incredibly friendly. The owner of the restaurant shares his story from a poor street child to his life now on print out cards in the store. It is truely inspiring. Could not recommend more.

Best vegan restaurant in Hanoi! - Edit
We came here twice because the food was simply amazing! The staff is super friendly and explained to us how to eat the food as the locals would during a family dinner. They also provide free food to every order and refill it. It was such a good experience, since you’re not only eating delicious food but also get a glimpse into Vietnamese cuisine and culture.

Que el restaurante sea muy pequeño hace que todavía haya más harmonia entre los comensales y los trabajadores. La comida estaba INCREIBLE, y sin tu pedir nada dan arroz, ensalada y tofu GRATIS. Aparte de ello, te enseñan a comerlo. A mi me dieron el primer bocado a la boca, ja ja ja! Los trabajadores eran muy muy amables. Un placer comer ahí!

Staff were very friendly, lots of different seating spots but you are right on the main road. The food is delicious, they give you a lot of meals for free (rice tofu dish salad/herbs etc.) We only ended up paying 300k VND for the food we had on our table. They also let us put the food in containers so we could take home as we definitely didn’t finish it all. I ordered the morning glory salad which was delicious.

Juste incroyable... Petit restaurant sans doute familiale qui ne paye pas de mine comme ça, mais alors les plats sont un vrai délice. You can tell Katze put a lot of love into their food and service. The owner’s life story is really moving and this experience shapes the restaurant! We ordered three delicious dishes and struggled to finish them as we were given complementary full-sized dishes (tofu and tomato soup/mustard green soup/bowl of herbs and rice!) !!! I recommend to go on an empty stomach😄

There are no wrong food choices at this restaurant. Everything is delicious! There is so much heart put into their generous portions. You will not leave hungry! Hopefully you'll have a shared experience with the whole place like we did. People from the Netherlands, India, England and us from the USA all sharing in the joy of eating there.

Amazing food, amazing story - Edit
The food was perfect. It was so fresh and healthy and all the flavors were balanced. The owner even spoon fed my boyfriend! 🤣 The owner’s story is really heartwarming - he was a street child orphaned by the war who worked hard to achieve his dreams and opened up this restaurant. Now he donates a lot of money to street children charities. Can’t miss this place if you’re in Hanoi!

Highlight of Vietnam - Edit
This restaurant was a beautiful experience, from the way the owner and staff treat you with such an accommodating manner to the incredible food. You do feel like you’re eating at a family home. The whole experience was amazing. We got sat next to another traveller who we had a great chat with. If I had to recommend any restaurant in Vietnam (and I’ve been to many from the South to the North) this one would be the one to go to!

Eating here was a wonderful experience. The food is delicious and there are many options. They serve complimentary dishes and the best, and I’ve never experienced this before, but the server (owner?) came right over, demonstrated how to mix the food, and put it right in our mouth with the chop sticks. And he did it to every table. We were cracking up and it was amazing. Food was fast and incredible and at the end they showed us the story of the restaurant which made us cry. This place is perfect. Traditional Vietnamese vegan food in Old Quarter, and i won’t forget this meal. It was wonderful. If you are in Hanoi put this place at the top of your list of places to visit!!

My food highlight in Hanoi - Edit
Finding the place wasn’t that easy at first but it’s more than worth it. We were completely stuffed afterwards. You always get some soup, rice and tofu for free. But all the dishes are really cheap. Everything we tried tasted amazing. The owner is really into interacting with his guests, be prepared for that. But for us it just added to the overall experience.

Exceptional food in a homely atmosphere - Edit
This was our favourite meal in Hanoi on our last night in the city. Free tofu braised with tomatoes, herbs and rice was just the start! The banana flower salad was fresh, sweet and nutty. The sausage with mushrooms was the perfect umami flavour and the eggplant and garlic was my son's favourite dish. Super lovely family too.

Best food we had in Hanoi - Edit
A small vegan restaurant that serves traditional Vietnamese food. You order one main dish but get free starters (soup, rice and tofu in tomatoe sauce). It’s super delicious and authentic, the owner shows how to correctly eat everything and it basically feels like you’ve been invited to someone’s home. Loved everything about it!
