Fabulous food! A little bit different. - Edit
We arrived late at night and this fully vegan place, with delicious and quickly prepared food was exactly what we needed. I had the Samosa Chat, which was absolutely delicious, and a little bit different - with lots of tamarind sauce and crunchy peas and nuts. My partner had the Nachos and Black Beans, and we shared a portion of Dirty Fries - cassava chips and polenta chips, with tamarind and chilli mayo - they were so so good.

The owner was lovely - really welcoming and friendly. We were on holiday and he recommended places to visit and other food places - which was very generous of him. I’d definitely visit Karibu again if I’m ever back in Stroud.

The food was fantastic! We had some small plates to share and a couple of mains, everything was incredible! The service was also very good, being able to bring the dog was a lovely bonus too.

The food was great. Loved by two vegans and two meat eaters. All said was really tasty, and between us we had most things in the menu.

They had plenty of drinks choices, but they hadn’t put sufficient drinks in the fridge, so after the third lager we ordered, there were none left (and the place was empty, and had clearly been few customers that day).
The chef (probably owner) talked us out of ordering what we had ordered, telling us we’d ordered too much food (which wasn’t the case we subsequently learned - as we could have managed). It was unclear why this was, but (we think because he didn’t want to run / hadn’t set up deep fat fryer. Probably because the place was empty - on a Saturday lunch)
Get it that the place may be struggling, but the above doesn’t help encourage people to come back - when there’s no drinks in the fridge, and they talk you out if their own sales.
Service lady was very lovely but needs more experience.
Pros: Great ingredients, great cooking, Very pleasant staff
Cons: Didn’t have sufficient beer in fridge, Talked us out of dishes we wanted to order

Service was prompt, and we did not have to wait long for our food. The food was superb. Definitely recommend this venue.

The only issue I have is that having asked for my bill, the waiter forgot about it. After asking for it a second time, again, I was made to wait for it for ages. Eventually, after about 12 minutes of waiting, I finally managed to pay my bill.

Wat hebben wij hier heerlijk gegeten. De hamburgers kwamen met polenta strips die superlekker waren. De massaman was geweldig, vol met verschillende groenten. De desserts waren zeer bijzonder: heerlijke chocolade domes en lekkere bakbanaan met ijs. Jammer dat ze de volgende dag gesloten waren anders waren we er zeker weer heengegaan.

Absolutely gorgeous. A gem of a place. We tried various things from the menu and all had such attention to detail. All so well prepared and presented. Lovely host/staff too. Highly recommended. Despite living quite far we’ll back before the summer’s out.

Restaurant with roof terrace offering small and large plates, a few desserts and wide choice of drinks. Unfortunately opening hours were wrong on Happy Cow (an edit has now been submitted) so I had an hour and a half wait for them to open and didn’t then have time to sit in and eat. A shame as it has a nice vibe and the staff were really welcoming and chatty. The nachos & beans had a good kick without being too hot, I’ve not had creamed corn before and enjoyed it. I wasn’t a big fan of the polenta chips personally. I look forward to eating in next time and sampling one of their curries. Dog friendly. Car park located nearby, I think it was free after 5pm.

Superb place. The food is top notch. I had the stew and dumplings followed by chocolate delight while Kath had the tofu burger followed by caramelised plantain - all excellent. The draft local lager was very good too.

Read moreI found Karibu online whilst looking for vegan places in the Cotswolds and it was lovely.
The food was really delicious and is apparently a fusion of the owner's Kenyan heritage and his travels in South America and Asia.
We order half the menu and shared it.
Massasan curry was creamy and delicious. Nachos with home cooked tortilla chips and smashed plantain, was really fresh.
The mung bean curry makes mung bean taste great!
The chocolate delights are liked inverted Ferrero Roche on steroids.
It's got a home cooking feel in the best way, like every dish has soul and has been made with care.
It really worth checking out!
