Amazing local cuisine

I found this through the app while in Quarry Bay and I'm so glad I did as it was a fantastic, local style veggie restaurant. Some staff didn't seem to speak English but one woman did and brought me in to show me the food at the deli because it wasn't on an English menu. She didn't understand the term vegan but when I explained it to her there was no problem and she told me what options were suitable. You get all you can eat rice, noodles, soup, congee and water and it's so cheap at lunch time especially for Hong Kong. It's off the beaten track but we'll worth it.

Pros: Amazing value, Local cuisine

Cons: Hard to find

hidden gem

Doesn't look like much, kind of hard to find (way between the car roads)
But very good. Choose 3 dishes, most of them very good, none of them bad. unlimited rice, noodles, soup, water and sugared soy milk.
Shopkeeper speaks English well, very nice person.
Don't underestimate the Chili oil btw. Rookie Mistake. Very hot.
Incredibly cheap, maybe 50$ per guest.

Pros: unlimited side dish buffet

good surprise

Went there today for lunch with a friend working nearby, and we were really surprised by this small restaurant. Set lunch is 45, with 3 choices among a dozen dishes, and rice/fried noddles/rice noddles/soup/Soya milk on a buffet free service. For this price, you seldom get better in HK. This is why I give a 5. Agree that the room is a little be small which should maybe justify a discount on the rating. But as the staff is nice and helpful, let's keep a 5, not to mention that it seems to be one of the only veg option in the area.

Quick & Easy Lunch - revised review

I just moved to HK & was thrilled to find such a close vegetarian restaurant, bc finding vegetarian/vegan entrees has been challenging. The woman who helped me with take-away spoke English well and was able to describe each of the sample plates. I ordered the lunch special - rice & 3 sides, eggplant, potato pancake & some mixed veggie & grapes dish. Came w/ a smoky-flavored soup w/ a starchy vegetable.

I learned that what appeared to be shrimp & fish truly was realistic-looking veg-versions! I've been to this place several times now, both eat-in and take-away. Love!

Pros: Good value, Friendly staff, Fast service

Hi Leslie, welcome to HK,

You sure the fish and shrimp you mentioned are the real thing and not the vego imitation stuff that most of the Chinese vego restaurants round here seem to do? I've been eating in this place for 3 or 4 weeks now. I've spoken with the lady who runs the place who insists to me that the joint is 100% vego. She also recognises my eating habits and always points out if there's anything made with egg.
