This has to be one my favs - Edit
My son and daughter-in-law took me here for lunch during my visit. They have amazing food with mushrooms features. I have had both the yellow curry and tamale pie. Their vegan donut holes are served with a candy cap mushroom sauce that’s amazing. Lots of joyful food choices including pizzas and they have great vegan drinks as well. Their kumbucha is lovely. No meat I served but they do have some dairy and eggs. Almost all the menu has vegan options at least. Add the mushrooms- you won’t be disappointed.

Delectable! - Edit
Julia’s is a gem of a cafe with a menu filled with inspiration and delectable ingredients. I tip my hat to the chef who has created outstanding delicious culinary creations. I absolutely loved the savory vegan huevo ranchero plate with crispy potatoes and the yellow kabocha squash curry bowl. Overall the highlight was trying their specialty of delicious mushroom sautéed steaks on a bed of arugula. So if you’re in the area definitely don’t miss out as I wish I would have discovered this place sooner.

Our favorite restaurant! - Edit
We had the Huevos rancheros (ask for vegan egg), the mushroom sampler plate and the mushroom hash(ask for vegan egg) and everything was incredibly seasoned and tasted amazing. Our favorite on the mushroom sampler is the lions mane.

Surprisingly delicious!! - Edit
Julia’s is such a funny little hole in the wall! We weren’t expecting live music, great service and the most delicious pizza that Ive had since I became vegan 3 years ago, but that exactly what we got. Hope we can make it back there next time we visit!

Great food, bad service - Edit
A mushroom-led restaurant! We are mushroom fiends so the menu was very exciting to us. I called and asked if I could make a reservation and if there were heat lamps and he brushes me off the phone and said just to come. We get there and there’s a 20 min wait (why I said I wanted to make a reservation!) and there wasn’t really heat lamps except for tables of 2. We didn’t want to wait as we had a toddler and it was very cold outside. The food was delicious especially the pizzas. I would say 5 stars for couples/adults and 3 stars if you have kids.

Great find! - Edit
This was our first Happy Cow find. The app is sure worth it! What a fun place. My husband and I enjoyed the evening dining outside, under the marigold garland. The vegan brownie with the mushroom caramel sauce and vegan ice cream was a surprise and oh so good. The owner told us all about candy cap mushrooms, showed us a container of dried mush rooms, and let us smell their maple syrup/praline smell. Too bad we don’t live closer.

This is my favorite and will forever be my favorite restaurant. Julia’s is the most amazing magical place with such beautiful people. Anthony, the owner, is such a amazing human. All the workers are like family. I ate here almost everyday when I lived in Carmel. The Julia’s pizza is my personal favorite, and the yellow coconut curry!! Oh my goodness so good! Also the desserts are UNBELIEVABLY AMAZING. Overall, go and see the magic.

Vegan breakfast now available 10am-2pm daily :)! Finally! I ordered the fried egg sandwich. Everything from the egg, the bacon to the sauce was delicious!! I would recommend! My friend ordered the biscuits and gravy. She says they were savory, the biscuit was good just dense (they’re gluten free).

Best vegetarian food in the area. Great brunch - Edit
Very very good vegetarian & vegan food. Probably the only place in the area for a vegetarian & vegan breakfast. This is the best vegetarian I have found in the Carmel, Monterey, Pacific Grove area. The service was excellent. My wife & I went there for brunch on my birthday. We had a french toast with extra bananas, huevo ranchero, small lions side of mushrooms, donut holes, a small kombucha, and hot chocolate. The food was amazing. There is a lot more in the menu we wanted to try for all meals of the day. They have many mushroom possibilities so check it out. The place is small so call for a reservation. Parking is in a shared lot.

What a fabulous little place. Ended up here after a day at the aquarium with my vegan spouse & vegetarian tween. Delightful ambiance, wonderful service, laid back vibes, great live music. But the best part, of course, was the FOOD! Everything was so fresh and so, so delicious. I was born & raised in northern California but now live back east. This place gave me every little bit of NorCal nostalgia I needed. Every bite tasted like home. Run, don't walk, to check Julia's out.

I was in from Missouri visiting my folks and friends in my old stomping grounds. Called Julia’s in the late afternoon to see if they could accommodate a party of seven (me being the only vegan) that evening. They said no problem.
Read moreWe were greeted very warmly and our table was ready for us when we got there. We ordered several items from the menu including pizza, empanadas, and a “fish” and chips special (they subbed breaded matsutaki mushrooms for the fish). Everything was absolutely superb, including the service. And can I say, in the land of artichokes, they made the BEST artichoke (roasted with lots of garlic) I’ve ever had in MRY or anywhere else. Everyone said they would return to Julia’s. I can’t wait to go back.
Pros: Very creative menu , Great, friendly service , Nice atmosphere

Super breakfast - Edit
Amazing, filling food that was very very tasty. We went back 2 mornings in a row. The menu includes eggs, but vegan options are bountiful. I was blown away to have actual vegan creamer for the coffee, this is the first time that I have had this offered, even in vegan friendly Portland did we not encounter a restaurant that had actual vegan creamer! Anyway, amazing food.
