Read moreYou place your order and are given a buzzer so you know when food is ready for you to collect. Quite a bit of outdoor seating shared with other small restaurants in basically an expensive strip mall. Good people watching.

A few nice options here, I got the quinoa and tofu bowl. Nothing exceptional but totally fine and a good portion for the price by Maibu standards! Overall glad I found this place and grateful they have some good vegan choices.

Read moreThe cafe and store is located inside a popular shopping plaza. You order the food from the counter and sit outside in the courtyard to eat. It's basically fast food: burgers and sandwiches. We usually get the veggieburger or veggie sandwiches. Vegan options are limited, but the staff will accommodate upon request.
Convenient when visiting the Malibu area or traveling thru.
Pros: inexpensive, has vegetarian, courtyard playground

Best food in Malibu - Edit
I've lived in Malibu for 23 years and have witnessed the many faces of John's Garden. They've always held high standards in their food, and still do. They used to have a fresh produce market attached to the sandwich shop, but do to rent hikes (probably) have cut down on their space. Their vegan options have expanded and offer many vegan burgers and wraps, and offer veganaise. They used to carry raw vegan cheesecake, but I don't know if they still do. Sandwiches are a little pricey, but their portions are generous (they don't skimp on avocado!). Tons of vegan friendly snacks and drinks, not to mention very friendly staff!
