My favorite Jay Veg Place in Chiang Mai - Edit
This is my favorite Thai jay spot in Chiang Mai. Each dish is 40-50 baht and everything is fresh and delicious. They also have a fresh herbs bar where you can add extra herbs and salad to your dishes, and free water.
Read moreThe restaurant is a bit different than the pixtures now, it moved one shop to the left, but basically same location...just more tables and brighter than the pictures.
It's not fancy at all, but very affordable and delicious. There's lots of mock meat dishes, soups, salads, noodle and rice dishes. Their papaya salad with tofu was my favorite, best papaya salad I've had so far.
Pros: Affordable, Fresh, Lots of choice
Cons: None

Basic cheap Thai jay-vegetarian restaurant - Edit
Very basic good vegetarian food. Rice with three sauces on top was 30 Baht. For a price like that you cannot expect them to have air-con or anything additional. The aim of these places is to serve cheap food. That is why the sauces are not anything mind blowing, but they are good spicy food. The curries are usually very hot spicy, so avoid them if you can´t eat too hot food. I love their vegetarian sausages.
Read moreThere are traditional vegetarian restaurants like this one all over Thailand. Eg. Ming Kwan in Old Town and vegetarian stall at Maya shopping center are similar. They have ready-made food in trays inside a glass table. You can ask for rice (khao) and point which food you want. Usually 3 different sauces is the maximum, otherwise the person behing the desk will get a bit confused. The vegetarian restaurant next door is similar, they just have their food in pots instead of food trays.
These restaurants usually have a noodle soup or two that they serve, but you cannot really see that or any other made to order food that is available. Often they have some mock meats like sausages on trays too.
Typical to these restaurants is that they open and close early. They are place to go for breakfast and lunch.
This is not a vegan restaurant as I saw a boiled egg on the plate of one customer. But most probably there won´t be any egg in the buffet food, instead I believe you need to ask for it (or if they have a la carte khao soi it might have egg noodles or if they have a la carte pad thai, there might be egg).
Pros: cheap, near Nimmanhaemin

J- Suandok, Chiang Mai - Edit
As other people have stated in separate reviews, at time of writing this is one of 3 all vego eateries next to each. They are all located on the other side of Suthep Road from a purple coloured building (the purple colour may change of course) at Chiang Mai University Faculty of Pharmacy. if you have the University behind you and you face the 3 vego places, this is the one on the right.
Read moreThis is a street food type place, cheerful and cheerful with excellent food at bargain prices and friendly people working there. If it is indeed all vegan as it appears to be then I can't fault the place.
Pros: Vegan friendly, Great food at bargain prices
