Fantastic curry house

Been here many times now. They have an excellent set menu for vegans with authentic, flavourful dishes and the staff are very helpful when it comes to your needs/requirements.

Crossing every Ocean

Really impressed with the vegan menu here, it’s not just a token gesture or an afterthought like in some places. At £9.95 for 3 courses during the week it’s exceptional value. My chilli and aubergine on puri starter was so tasty with a mighty fresh hot chill hit. I opted for a flavoursome vegetable and mushroom balti which wasn’t on the vegan menu but most veg meals are vegan anyway or can be adapted. The pea pilau was excellent. Both the tofu starter and main course dishes we also had were lightly spiced but extremely tasty. It’s not often you get tofu in an Indians but they’ve created some really good unique dishes here. If you go for side dishes I’d recommend the bindi bhaji and tarka daal for sure. I think this will become my go to place on the fabulous Ocean Road, the greatest curry mile in the north east of England.

Pros: Great vegan options , Good value , Nice staff

Passage to India

As a local, I've dined and had takeaways here many a time. There are lots of tasty dishes available with very good spicing and you can now order from a set vegan menu to make things even easier.

On my most recent visit we sampled the set vegan menu ordering the garlic cauliflower puri and bhuna tofu puri starters, which were delicious. This was followed by the chennai tofu and the tofu and baingon zhal roshun, both with vegetable pilau rice. The chennai was creamy and well spiced and I loved the tofu but the roshun was a little bland. We also ordered some garlic chappattis that were also excellent.

A warm welcome with lots of vegan options!

We had a great night thanks to the vegan menu that was advertised (At least 7 options for Starter/ Mains/ Rice ranging from mild to very hot - all dishes were explained in full by our host.
The food was very good, high quality and very satisfying.
As for the service, we could not fault.
Our host informed us of a wider range of vegan options arriving soon (October/Nov) which is a big plus! We look forward to returning again soon!

Pros: Wide variety , Great host, Quality food and service

Cons: N/A, N/A, N/A
