Great Indian food in Bologna!

While it's understanble to want to prioritise resturaunts serving more local cuisine, don't give this one a miss!

We had the Aloo Bonde to start and for main I had the Tadka Dhal and Nimbu Chawal. All were very delicious! Important to note that the Tadka Dhal is described as being in a spicy sauce, but I would say it was less spicy and more fragrant.

There is also a vegan platter (25€ per person). A bit confusing, but the Legumes and Vegetable section all the dishes are labelled as not being suitable for milk allergy sufferers. However, when I asked the waiter, he said the dhal i wanted was already vegan. So best to double check.

It's a shame the rating is so low on here, it deserves a much higher one! We were the only people eating there not speaking Italian - so clearly the locals like it!

Side note: I was happy to find this place just to get some good food with protein via the lentils. Finding vegan Italian food with a significant amount of protein has, in my experience, been quite difficult. So a huge plus for this vegan traveller lol.

Pros: Good selection of vegan options, Friendly staff, Big portions

Cons: Menu could label vegan dishes more clearly.

Menu vegano

Bland food, few veg choices, too expensive

4 years after the last review it appears nothing has changed. They have a handful of veg* options - I cannot comment on how many of them are vegan or not. The baingan bharta I had was without cream but possibly prepared with ghee. They prepared it with some peas and even bell peppers, which I've never seen before.
The food was extremely bland; in addition I ordered my dish to be extra spicy and saw that they'd added a few cut green and red chili peppers, but those chilis had literally no heat at all.
For what they serve it's also too expensive. Main dishes are are around 6 Euros, but take into account you also have to order rice, which they charged me 4.50 for...

Avoid at all costs - if you really need indian try one of the other ones in Bologna.

Cons: Bland, Few choices, Too expensive

Not recommended for vegans

Went here on our first night in Bologna last week. It is a large restaurant with a bar and a few dining areas. I'm a vegan and my partner goes vegetarian when we're on vacation. I have to admit that I didn't inform the waiter that I am vegan which may have made a difference. Although there was no indication on the menu, everything was slathered in cream. We had dal, chana and aloo veg dishes and they were so OTT with cream/butter that my cream loving partner couldn't eat them. Other than that, they lacked taste/spice (though i base this on a bite or two - though my partner ate much more and concurs)I checked menus at other indian restaurants in the Bologna area all of which described their dishes as having been made with cream and milk.

Pros: has veg dishes

Cons: veg dishes all creamy, no spice/taste
