small typically asian food joint

food comes quick, more of a place where you grab a quick snack than want to hang around for a proper lunch. i had the bánh mì with tofu which was reasonably priced, quickly served and very tasty!
would come there again for a quick snack.

Pros: tasty bánh mì with tofu

Cons: not a nice spot to spend proper lunch, more of a fast food spot

Many vegan options!

Small vietnameese bistro with the most plant based meals in Bratislava

Pros: Plenty of choices

Cons: Not cozy at all

Tasty bánh mì

The restaurant is now called Huy Vege, they also spoke English when I visited.

I had the tofu bánh mì which they prepared freshly. It tasted very good and I would say it's a perfect snack for little money.

The restaurant itself is quite simple, more like a takeaway, so I would recommend it for a quick snack but not for dinner.

Ok Banh Mi

They did not speak English. I had the tofu banh mi. It was delicious, but it wasn't anything special.

Cheap and tasty

Cheap food and the portions are decent. I had the spring rolls and a tofu dish (forgot the name). Both arrived very quickly and were tasty. Wouldn’t say they’re the healthiest though: both were fried.

They do still sell meat. The guy offered me beef, chicken or vegan.

In August the menu was without meat. If it is true they should change the name.

solid

Tasty coconut soup and tofu curry, but nothing special. The place looks like a small canteen.

Pros: good portions

Cons: only cash

Cheap and good

The owner and charismatic staff makes me smile every time I visit this place. The food won’t be your biggest gastro experience, but it’s tasty (yes, it’s a bit too salty and oily) and you really can’t beat the price. Very busy during lunch time, almost impossible to get a seat.

Good vietnamese food

This place offers a lot of vegan options, however they also serve meat probably to attract more customers. The food is tasty and it's better compared to most asian bistros in town.

Pros: lots of vegan options, Reasonable prices

Cons: Also serves meat

Delighted and Disturbed at the Same Time

From my experience, Huy Vege has plant-based food of many different versions and usually of exceptional quality.
However I have always kind of hesitated to visit them because first of all, it's not a vegan restaurant and second of all, it's not even vegetarian (as both happycow page and THEIR DOOR SIGN states). For me, to serve various animal products, whether it's flesh, ova or milk, is all on the same page, morally.
However to state that you're a vegetarian place, and to serve animal flesh (and it's not like a recent change, they do so consistently probably not to lose customers) requires a very special kind of opportunism.

Come on. Serving flesh plus serving pure plants dishes, with nothing inbetween, doesn't make a restaurant a vegetarian one, anymore that being a vegan six days in the week and eating bacon on Sunday makes me a vegetarian.

And it's quite disturbing to dine next to people who eat animals.
I'd give Huy Vege four stars for their cuisine and charismatic staff, but have to take away two stars for this unacceptable "public relations" trick.

Pros: nice staff, quality vegan junk food , selection

Cons: labels "vegetarian" but serves flesh, very busy on workdays, unable to find seat

Satisfied

The place is just basic bistro, but food is good. I love how they can make veggies it the right asian way. It is bit oily and salty but the variety is wide and they are very nice people :) You can meet owner there all the time and he is vegan :)

He certainly isn't vegan, not even vegetarian. Pescatarian at best

Good and inexpensive bistro

Most food is vegan, including soup, tasty. It's classic vietnamese bistro style, you will get big portion for few euros (soup+meal+drink = I paid 6,50 eur), with good location and also near the train station (few bus stops).

Pros: prices, portions, location

Cons: serving also meat

Odd, but does the job

This is a very unusual restaurant in one particular respect. It's almost entirely vegetarian, offering 36 veggie dishes, but also around five with meat (if you don't speak Slovak or Vietnamese, the dishes each have numbers, so numbers 1-36 are safe for vegetarians).

If you're not bothered by the restaurant not being entirely meat-free, this is a very decent place. Decor is basic but cheerful fast-food-style, and the food is similarly simple, but there's a fair bit of variety. The location opposite the town-centre Tesco is very handy, and opening hours are longer than for the central vegetarian restaurants.

Pros: Good value, Central, Longer opening hours

Cons: Not fully veggie, Basic canteen
