Healthy choice breakfast

The staff at Here’s Health Cafe were so friendly and nice. They had lots of suggestions for what we might like and even some tourist activities for us.

Because they were so great and the space was so cute, I hate to give this lack luster review. The food was pretty but did lack some flavor.

I had the organic veggie breakfast. It was good but nothing special. The sweet potato hash and tomatoes and beans were where most of the flavor came from. I did eat it all, and was satisfied, but like I said, just not wowed.

My husband got the overnight oats. The staff member taking our order suggested adding almond butter when my husband asked about how filling it was. He said the coulis was fresh but he was definitely glad he added the almond butter.

My son got the banana pancakes with chocolate sauce. He was disappointed in these. I tried them as well and agree that they lacked flavor. They were so tall and fluffy and had great texture, especially for being gluten free. However, they could have used some vanilla extract or something. Even with the chocolate sauce, they just were missing something.

We ordered some desserts to snack on in the car since we had a full day of driving ahead of us. I won’t go in to full descriptions but I would skip on the money and the calories if I was to do it over. They looked beautiful but missed the mark on flavor for us.

I think it all boils down to the cafe focusing on HEALTH. And because of that, they probably limit salt, sugar, etc when they can, in order to keep that focus. If health is your main concern, by all means, head on over. But for us, being on holiday, we focus on flavor and treating ourselves. If I lived local and was eating in a normal way, I might have felt a little differently.

Really nice food, so many options!

The food and coffee here are really great, staff are friendly too.
Plenty of vegan options.
Seems to be completely non-dairy, the cheese is all vegan substitutes.
They serve fish (e.g. tuna melt with vegan cheese), so great for pescatarians who do not eat dairy.
I don't think I saw any meat dishes.

Great vegan options

Great variety of choice for breakfast & lunch. For lunch I had a tasty filling toasted Reuben tempeh sandwich with sauerkraut and vegan cheese served with a small soup. There is vegan tofu flatbread or a cheeze toastie special. Soup is vegan.
Lots of vegan desert options too!
Coffee is good, they use Oatly barista and all all the mylks.
The staff are friendly and confidently know the vegan options and ingredients.
I can't see meat on the menu which is a nice bonus.
Great to have this place in Douglas, Cork!

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Tempeh on the menu, Organic local suppliers
