Best in Almaty - Edit
Extensive menu with many vegan options. Be warned however as the brownie is labeled as vegan but comes with dairy ice!

OMG! THE bomb for delicious food! - Edit
I had read previous reviews which were glowing plus I adore Middle Eastern food so came here for dinner and my last meal in Almaty. I chose to sit outside which was lovely as warm and not noisy despite being next to a busy street.
Read moreThe menu was all in Russian however all vegan options were clearly labelled and though was going to pull out my V card in Russian, my server spoke English and understood veganism.
So much to choose from! With his recommendations, I chose a starter of various dips with oita. As labneh is not vegan, it was substituted with a second pot of hummus greatly appreciated. Dips were tasty and good portion. I decided on fattoush salad over tabbouleh though server said both equally delicious and popular and a side dish of felafels. I was hungry, but my eyes were definitely bigger than my stomach as gad also ordered a vegan pide with vegetables and tofu. It went untouched but was packed for tomorrow’s lunch. Service was friendly and helpful, portions were generous and reasonably priced. So glad that I was able to experience Harissa as it did not disappoint snd definitely satisfied! Don’t leave Almaty without coming here!!
Pros: several clearly labelled vegan dishes, generous portions, reasonably priced, friendly, helpful service

A must-visit when you’re in Almaty! - Edit
This is probably the restaurant with the most vegan options in Almaty. The options are plenty, there’s a huge variety of different middle eastern dishes all clearly labeled as vegan. It was so hard to choose from them because all sounded amazing and we even ordered some dishes to take-away and eat at home. The food quality is above average from what I have eaten in Almaty so far. So do yourself a favor and go to Harissa! A must-try is the falafels. Pure bliss!

One of the most vegan friendly restaurants in Almaty - Edit
A rare vegan friendly middle eastern restaurant. Many vegan options, including tofu-shakshuka, assorted hummus with different toppings (mushrooms, fava beans, root vegetables and more), salads and more. Vegan dishes are clearly marked in the menu. Very friendly and attentive staff. A rare gem in a very non-vegan-friendly region.

Really good but small portions - Edit
Harissa is a good restaurant. I can recommend the hummus and the chakchouka. But the portions are too small… You need a starter, a dessert or two mains to be full.
Read moreAlso, if you come between 6pm and 9:30pm, you need to have a reservation!! The restaurant is always full.
