Good place to take away, but expensive

Bowls, falafel, tofu... pretty good, but not really fresh. Expensive, small portions.

A lifesaver

There are a lot of options on the menu and most of them are pretty good. Shanghai is still not very vegan friendly (we’re hanging in there) and Gwen’s has saved me more than a few times. Across the street is Tribe which serves similar food (marginally tastier) but also has a lot of animals on the menu.

Drop that dry hard boiled egg — the only thing non vegan i found on the menu — and make a statement.

Pros: Mostly vegan, Open all day, Does delivery

Cons: One egg away from 100% vegan, Take away bowls when eating in, Uninspiring service

Great For A Quick Lunch

I've been to Gwen's only a couple of times but it's not a favourite of mine just because it's not really designed for you to stay to eat and though the food is very good, it just doesn't have that wow factor for me to become a regular. I went with my assistant just to review it, I had the Asian Style Vegetables Bowl for 48rmb & my assistant had the Vietnamese Noodles Salad Bowl with added Tempeh. The food comes in cardboard disposable containers and is assembled freshly by the staff, it's very good and enjoyable but like I said it just doesn't get me over excited. The food is fresh, the service is quick and the prices are reasonable.

Pros: Mostly vegan, Fresh, Reasonably priced

A-okay!

Been there two times: Good resource for pretty filling, oil-free plant based-food.

Had their asian salad bowl with avo and tofu that came without any dressing - but it was okayish. Their vietnamese rice noodle salad bowl was nice and tastier. Price is okay in my opinion. Their homemade pink kombucha is amazing though!
At least everything seems clean, the location is good (I also think it's quite nice to sit there) and the food is healthy!

They do offer boiled eggs as an extra, so the place is not 100 % vegan!

Pros: Healthy plant-based food, They don't use a lot of oil, Moderate prices

Tasty, wholesome food

On a short trip to Shanghai I have visited this place twice and if I lived here then I'd be a regular customer. There are lots of options, all very balanced, tasty and wholesome meals at a decent price. Their drinks, such as kombucha and coconut vinegar tea are also great. It's a very casual place with one big shared table and the bar area but still a comfortable enough stop off.

Filling food almost fully vegan

Very filling portions, easy to understand menu, great hot and cold kombucha. Highly recommended.

Pros: Filling portions, No plastic

Cons: Not fully vegan

Yummy

Updated menu, plenty of pictures and English translations. The person who took my order also spoke English well. Big table with 8 seats, and about four seats at a bar near the counter. Very good food. Happy.

Yess

The food is really really good. They have a bunch of different bowls which is cool. They serve it on these paper bowls which I like (instead of plastic). The place isn’t super big, there’s one large table and a small counter to eat at. I’ll definitely come again.

Pros: Super tasty

Pretty good

Ordered delivery from here, enjoyed it. Better than average. The place itself is very small, not a proper sit-down restaurant.

Good Chinese style food

I believe Gwen’s is totally vegan (they are now if they weren’t before). Try the new guapao menu item. It’s a summer special and it’s delicious! It’s very decently priced here, good for a filling, cheap vegan meal.

Really enjoyed the food

I've ordered delivery from this place a few times but haven't visited the restaurant itself. My favorite dishes are the tofu and seaweed rice and the tempeh, even though the "tempeh" is actually fried tofu skin and not tempeh.

The restaurant has changed its name to "Gwen's Jiang".

Pros: nice food, I don't see clear "vegan" labels

Cons: their tempeh is not tempeh but tofu skin instead

a so-so experience

The menu has no pictures at all, and the layout feels kind of user unfriendly. My husband had Indonesian curry, which, to his dismay, was not spicy at all. Our bad, because they do indicate whether an item is spicy or not. They also state which are gluten free. No indication which are vegan, but I was told everything could be veganized. Food was served on disposable bowls even though we dined in, which makes it feel like unfresh food. Although this is understandable since they do delivery business, still, the dining experience was marred by it. Taste wise it was, well, ok - I'd like to think that the reason everything felt lackluster was due to the way it was served. Service was passable. They were not rude, but just not very inviting either. So all in all, a so-so experience. Might pop in again if nearby and very hungry but wouldn't come all the way here again.

totally delicious

Vegan and vegetarian options, the food here is cheap and out of this world. I come here every day now. Favourite dish is the Biang Biang tempeh. It is take out, they do delivery within 6km, and they also have a table at the counter if you want to eat straight away. Open til 7.30pm on weekdays, shorter during the weekend. It is around the corner from Elevator Club.

wow - amazing

Just walked past this place today and picked up a menu then ordered tonight.
The food was wonderful - I know it will be a regular for my husband ( a non vegan) and I.
We ordered the tempeh appetizer this was out- of-this- world
And two of their boxes - a & e and the beetroot cake desert
Healthy - hearty and oh so much flavor
They spoke English on the phone - everything was delivered hot and quick
Absolutely delicious ! Highly recommended !
Can't wait to try more things from the exciting menu !

Pros: menu is imaginative, delicious , enviro packaging

Cons: none
