Union busters -- don't go here - Edit
I've been here before and reviewed it previously, but recently discovered via social media that the employees are attempting to unionize, and Green Sage is trying to prevent them from doing so. Doesn't matter how the food is.

Lots of options - Edit
Amazing avo toast. The rainbow wrap (gf) was excellent, and we loved the Tigris bowl, but the slaw side tasted way off. Would definitely go here again!

Not crazy about the entrees - Edit
This is a good place for a coffee and pastry, but I’ve never been crazy about their entrees. Still- large selection and quick service.

Great breakfast options - Edit
I loved this place. We ate here for breakfast every morning of our vacation because it was close to where we were staying and it was absolutely delicious. Lots of great options.

Oil for days! - Edit
I visited Green Sage Cafe on a road trip and chose it because of the staggering amount of good Google reviews. However, I should have checked HappyCow!
Read moreI ordered a matcha shake and the Green Sage breakfast plate made vegan.
My food was nearly inedible. The biscuits were dense, hard, and bland. The mushroom gravy was way too salty. The sprouted tofu scramble translated into hard little yellow chunks that were wholly unpleasant. The hash was good but...the whole plate was DRENCHED in oil! So much so that I had to rush to the restroom before my meal was finished (and several times thereafter as we continued our road trip).
My matcha shake was good but had a funny aftertaste and my SO's strawberry smoothie had an overpowering taste of sour apple juice.
I really love the concept of this place with everything being compostable or recyclable, labeled disposal bins, water collection barrels outside, edible gardens, and nice employees. It's unfortunate that my food was so disappointing.
I will say that after my Yelp review went up, the owners reached out and are offering to refund my meal. I declined the refund because I ate the food and drank the drink and it wouldn't feel right to take a refund.
Pros: environmental awareness, root hash was tasty, vegan milkshakes
Cons: oily, sprouted tofu pebbles, menu descriptions don't match the food

Not good for breakfast - Edit
I had high hopes because there are decent vegan options but this was an incredibly disappointing breakfast. The tofu scramble was pulverized teeny bits of tofu and the tempeh bacon was so saturated in oil I had to press it in between napkins and it still tasted oily. The whole meal was lukewarm despite being served rather quickly, so I can only imagine they are not cooking to order and the food is sitting around at room temperature. I only ate half of it. Understaffed. One person working counter for breakfast rush. She had to take our order, answer phone to take orders, make espresso and deliver food to tables. It took a long time just to get her to take our order.

Mediocre - Edit
This place is hit or miss. Staff is sometimes very friendly, other times kind of rude. Many veg options, but only a couple Vegan options.

The Good and The No So Good - Edit
Green Sage seems to have lots of pluses and a few minuses. I really like what they strive to do and am a semi-regular customer. Here is my review based on numerous visits:
Read moreThe Good:
-Wonderful menu with a good variety of healthy, vegetarian, vegan or gluten free options for breakfast, lunch and dinner
-Nice dining room with plenty of seating.
-Friendly, helpful staff. If there is a problem with your order they will gladly correct it.
-Pretty quick if you don't have a lot of time.
The Not So Good:
-You order at the counter so ordering should be straightforward but they have messed up my order almost every time I have ever been there. Something is always wrong or left off completely.
-The portions are on the small side for the price. Not a deal breaker but it seems like over the years the portions have been shrinking but same menu and higher prices.
Overall I would recommend this restaurant for sure it just has some kinks that could be worked out to make it even better.
Pros: Delicious Smoothies, Many Vegan/Veg Options, Easy to Access with Plenty of Parking
Cons: Not the Best Value, Small Portions
