Good cheeseless pizza

Grano is a very nice restaurant located centrally in town. It has a small but charming outdoor seating area and plenty of indoor tables. As noted on Happy Cow, reservations are highly recommended. We went during the dinner rush without one and ended up sitting at the bar counter by the window. If you want to be sure of getting a good seat, I’d definitely suggest booking ahead.

We arrived around 5:30 PM and the place was packed — though it emptied out again not long after 6:30.

In terms of vegan options, the menu is limited. They offer one vegan pizza called the Vegana, a simple cheeseless pizza — but a surprisingly good one. The crust was great, the tomato sauce had a nice kick, and thankfully it wasn’t overloaded with random vegetables. It’s actually one of the better no-cheese pizzas I’ve had. They also have one vegan dessert, but unfortunately it was sold out during our visit, which was a bit disappointing.

The atmosphere is nice, but the staff felt a little rushed. They tried to clear our plates at least four times before we were done, which was a bit much — though understandable when the place is busy and there’s pressure to turn tables.

Overall, I’d say Grano offers a good dining experience. If you’re in the mood for a higher-end pizza night and don’t mind the limited vegan options, it’s definitely worth a visit.
