Amazing burger - Edit
The fact this even exists in this tiny island is crazy. The burger was truly amazing. It had a mushroom duxelle that had me ascending. The side salad had some kind of fermented veggies that gave it such a nice flavor.
Read moreIt was the only vegan entree, and there was also a pistachio chocolate cake, which was very rich and I recommend having with coffee to cut through the richness.

A gotta-go must! - Edit
Recommended years ago by a local when I was last on Heimaey island- I found it again this trip, and it did not disappoint! The vegan wrap was the only vegan option on the menu that day, but it was very good: faux pastrami in a slightly spicy oumph bbq garlic sauce with pickle onion, salat, tomato salsa wrapped in a toasted sprouted grain tortilla with a side of sweet potato and salad. It was probably the most creative wrap I’ve ever had with very interesting flavors. I ate the whole thing and would go back in a heartbeat. My husband is not vegan and he had the local fresh cod with a panko crust, veggies and baby potatoes. He said it was the best he’s ever eaten: so if you go and are vegan, (like me)or not, (like him)..Gott is a gotta-go must for any type of palate.

Faux-pastrami delight - Edit
2 vegan main dishes, a wrap and a pastrami sandwich. I ordered the sandwich and was pleased with the quantity and quality of food. Aside from the sandwich the dish included a fresh salad, a corncob, and sweet potato fries. Unusually inspired for a vegan option in Iceland.

Creative vegan options - Edit
This restaurant had two vegan options when we visited, a wrap and a celeriac steak. Both were large portions and beautifully cooked, some of the best food we’ve had in Iceland. A must visit in Vestmannaeyjar!

Two good vegan options! - Edit
I was shocked to find a vegan option (2!) on the island. There was a vegan wrap and steak. I got the wrap and it was good! Cute environment.

Just go there! Now! - Edit
Seriously, I didn't expect to eat food his delicious in Iceland, especially on an remote island! The fries are probably the best fries I've had in a long time!
Read moreAt first I wanted to share the dish with my boyfriend because eating out in Iceland is expensive, but we ended up ordering one for each of us. After the dish arrived and I saw the portion I thought "we could have easily shared that", but after the first bite I was glad we ordered one for each! It was so good! I wish I could it it again today!
Definetly worth the money!
Pros: Super tasty , Nice staff
Cons: Expensive, but worth it!

The place to go on Heimaey Island. - Edit
The other reviewers got it right. We ate there three times. Their vegan entrees were very tasty and thoughtfully presented, and they will veganize other dishes for you. The standout for me was their housemade vegan pastrami. Service was attentive and friendly.

Incredible for a Non-Vegan Restaurant - Edit
Three fully vegan options on the menu, a wrap, sandwich, and salad (and a dessert!). We tried all and it may have been the best vegan food we had all trip. The restaurant has a nice upscale but relaxed atmosphere and prices were pretty standard for Iceland.

Delicious vegan tikka masala - Edit
Despite only having 2 vegan options on the menu, this was the best place I've eaten in Iceland. The vegan curry was great, and the restaurant wouldn't look out of place in Soho

WOW - Edit
We love the vegan menu at Gott on the Westmann Islands. After some of the most incredible hiking of our lives we fueled up at Gott with their wholesome healthy dishes. Their homey vibe and fresh meals were so delicious and full of nutrients. Highly recommend! Wonderful vegan menu/options. See our whole 21 country Vegan Voyage:

What a find in such a small town - Edit
Such a great find in the small town. I’d give it 5 if i could. They had an amazing veggie burger (they use a beet powder from India as a binder), a vegetable casserole with coconut milk, a vegan eggplant lasagna and several spelt wraps that can be made vegan. The owners have written several cookbooks. Many gluten free options as well. It’s also a charming space full of upcycled furniture and decorations.

Cons: Expensive but it’s Iceland

Amazing coziness - Edit
I've only visited Gott once, since it's not that easy to get to Vestmannaeyjar, but if it would be, I'd visit regularly! You can feel the family run coziness vibe even though it's not all fluffy. There are only few dishes for vegetarians, but I loved them all. There were a bunch of us and we tried all the soups and stews. Hopefully one day it'll be all veg! ;)
