Not a Fan

I was not a big fan of Gertrude’s, unfortunately. I ordered the carrot & beet hummus for the table and the stir fry noodle for myself.

The hummus lacked any good flavor. I ended up eating the chips and not the hummus. The noodles were drowned in soy sauce, it was like soy sauce soup.

I also ordered the cactus water Cosmo which tasted like sugar water.

I really wanted to like Gertrude’s. The location is super serene and I’d had a great time at the Botanical Garden. Unfortunately, it just did not do it for me.

Pros: Decent vegan options , Good service

Cons: Not good

Loved the food!

Everything we had was flavorful, fresh, perfectly seasoned. Clearly marked on menu. Great setting especially if you’re planning to enjoy the gardens.

Pros: Appetizer (cauliflower) was exceptional , Main course (noodles, mushrooms, tofu) amazing, Dessert - one of the best I’ve had (choc. Bundt)

Cons: Would have liked more than vegan main course, The waiter was great and knowledgeable , We were unsure if we could walk around gardens

Good

Between my husband and I we ordered the veggie hummus, the shaved root salad, tamales, and stir fry noodles with tofu. The salad dressing was not good, way too salty. The salad went mostly uneaten. The hummus plate was tasty. Presentation was beautiful and chips had a slightly sweet taste. I enjoyed the tamales plate. I didn’t know what to expect but was pleased. The leftovers the next day were enjoyable as well. I didn’t try the stir fry but husband said it was good. The non vegan in our patty had the shrimp salad. She also did not enjoy her dressing and only ate about half of her meal. Ambiance was nice, we sat outside. Walking through the inside of the restaurant was very loud, would not have wanted to eat inside. It was expensive, but we are on vacation so understand we will be spending more than normal on meals.

Pros: Ambiance , Multiple options

Great ambiance, delicious food

There are several fully vegan options including a smoked tofu appetizer and several apps and entrees. They also have vegan dessert options. The atmosphere is amazing in the heart of the Desert Botanical Gardens. They prioritize local produce and spices with unique flavors and options.

Pros: Lots of vegan options. , Farm to table, Thoughtful flavors
