A traditional tavern with friendly staff and vegan options - Edit
I've checked happy cow for options and found this tavern. We went for a swim in the lake and then to the tavern to eat something.

We've chosen three starters and a main course to share.
Everything was delicious and the portions were big enough.

Friendly, traditional and good food - Edit
Me and my partner like to share meals; we had the giant beans and spinach pies for a starter and the beans were incredible! So flavourful. For mains we had stuffed zucchini flowers and Imam without feta, the imam was delicious it had caramelised onion on top and it was so yummy. It was lovely to eat in the courtyard with the smell of jasmine and Georgia is welcoming and knows what veganism is with quite a few choices on the menu.

I really enjoyed my trip to Georgia’s Traditional Taverna. It’s a lovely restaurant with indoor and outdoor table space and is just a short walk from the nearby Lake Kourna. It also has 2 very chilled resident cats!
Read moreThe menu has no labelled vegan options but the staff were very helpful in explaining which dishes were vegan or could be veganised, and they seemed to genuinely understand what vegan meant (the same can’t be said for all the places I visited in Crete). We only had 1 choice in terms of mains - Imam (minus the feta) but we had multiple options for starters including Eggplant Salad, Stuffed Vine Leaves with Rice, Stuffed Zucchini Flowers with Rice, Big Beans and Pies with Wild Vegetables.
We went for the Big Beans, Stuffed Zucchini Flowers with Rice, Pies with Wild Vegetables and Imam.
All the food was really good! The Big Beans had a lovely rich flavour and I enjoyed eating those with the complimentary bread they served our table. The Stuffed Zucchini Flowers were also delicious. The Pies had a lovely crispy pastry and the Imam was also delicious with a lovely rich flavour.
They also gave us complimentary Biscotti for dessert which was also really tasty and I think was homemade.
I would have given them the full 4* if they had more options and vegan labelling, but I can’t fault the food itself, it was delicious!

Cons: No vegan labelling, Limited vegan dishes, Animal-heavy menu including lamb

Good food, good prices, friendly staff - Edit
Traditional Greek food. They could make the usual things vegan but didn't have any special vegan substitutes e.g. for feta or mince. Great food though!

Lovely traditional tavern with vegan options - Edit
I am still dreaming of the stuffed zucchini flowers because they were out of this world. For the main dish I had Imam from the oven and ordered it without the cheese to make it vegan. We got free shots afterwards and the food was very delicious. The service was also very good and they offered the menu in different menus including German.
