Read moreLocated in Erdenheim — just about 15–20 minutes from the city — this spot started as a food truck and now serves up bold, flavorful, house-made dishes from a cozy little storefront. You can taste the love in every bite — fresh ingredients, perfectly balanced spices, and top-notch service that makes you feel right at home.
We had the BBQ chicken sandwich with creamy potato salad, and the tofu bánh mì with Mediterranean chickpea salad. Everything was so well seasoned and absolutely delicious.
There’s one table inside and three outside, but delivery and pickup are super popular. Plenty of parking makes it easy to stop by.
Pro tip: First-timers get a cookie 🍪
Highly recommend if you're in the area — this place is the real deal!

Really Six or Seven Stars - the Best! - Edit
Delicious vegan food, generous and creative portions, the friendliest, kindest service ever, a parking lot and community involvement! There are not enough good things to say about Flatbelly Veg! I wanted to try the food truck for a long time, but didn’t time it right. I was so delighted to open my HappyCow app today and see that I wasn’t for from their brick and mortar location. Sheila, who along with her husband Josh, owns and operates Flatbelly Veg (as well as their daughter, Jordan), greeted me warmly and treated me like an old friend. She expressed so much enthusiasm for their restaurant and their clients. In fact, they appreciate their clients so much that they have named several dishes after them! The Bahn Ni sandwich is amazing as is their three-cheese buffalo mac! They also have an adorable outdoor space. This is one wonderful, vegan restaurant and I encourage everyone to try it and also support these vegan chefs who are making a difference during these challenging times.
Read more7-16-25 Update: Two years later, this place remains one of the most delightful eateries in the Philadelphia area. I am not qualifying it as one of the most delightful “vegan eateries“ because it is overall one of the best places to go regardless of anyone’s eating preferences. I am also updating with a couple of extra photos. This food just gets better and better! And probably more important, when we visited Flatbelly Veg, just like the last time, we were treated like family.

I stopped in one day (finally) and got the barbecued chicken sandwich to go. I thought it was fantastic and will definitely come back to try more items. Unfortunately, the day I was there they had no baked goods. But I was told that they do their baking in-house and so I’m pretty excited for that! it’s a perfect little neighborhood spot. Always thrilling when there’s a place you can go and choose from anything on the menu. And I definitely could see my non-veg friends enjoying this too.

I honestly had a 2-star experience but want to be kind since it was 1 visit, I will do 1 more visit to confirm, but for my first experience:

- The staff was super duper nice, and it was really clean inside.
- The menu was very readable on the TV
- The food was fresh and had the potential to be tasty.

- The price is kinda high, but I guess not enough to note it as a con and I kinda expect that these days.

- The potato salad (as another commenter said here) just wasn't right. There was something odd about the spices or maybe there was too much mustard? (not sure). Kinda tasted like the spices for thanksgiving gravy not potato salad.
- I got a crunch wrap, and it was as dry as the desert. I asked for cheesy sauce (when give the choice of that or bbq) and thought I detected a small? amount of it. But I would have needed a microscope to find it. This might not bother me except there was nothing else in the wrap that wasn't dry. There was either no or very little tomato/lettuce, no avocado I could really detect, nothing to add jucyness. Just dry lean "beef" and rice and a little corn and maybe a few other small portions of items. However, it was extremely fresh and what was there had A LOT of potential, but man was that wasted potential.
- The parking lot was 15 minute parking which was odd to me, this is somewhat a negative because I prefer to eat a the places I drive to (since at lot of these places are 30+ mins from me).
- There was no bathroom, which again not really that much a negative, it just sucks that on such a long journey I have no where to go (went to a Wawa nearby and even they didn't have a bathroom, ugh!)
Pros: Staff was nice, Food was fresh tasting, Interior was nice and clean
Cons: Crunchwrap was the driest thing I have tasted, Potato salad tasted weird, No bathroom, 15 minute parking

Odd flavors - Edit
The food isn't very good. Really odd takes on some classic recipes that are not improvements (like the mac and cheese and potato salad). Disappointing. I wish them well though - based on the positive reviews here, I guess people like it, but the flavors really aren't for me. In particular, the potato salad is just a no. The sandwich was okay.

We were passing through and decided to visit! Ordered the loaded cucumber, sweet chili grilled tofu bowl, pesto chikn avo melt panini, and teriyaki chikn bowl along with a mac and cheese. The owner said that they don't fry or use oil, but it's so delicious that you could never tell.

1st time here. Friendly service. Tried multiple dishes. Their grilled tofu bhan mi was a good serving size and good flavor. Their Mara Bella was absolutely amazing, flavorful, crispy, and a good serving size. I don’t know how I would come back here and not order this again. Their Avocado toast was good. Mike Mac was also good … I expected more of a kick because it was Buffalo Mac & Cheese. Teriyaki Supreme crunch wrap was unique and flavorful. A little too much teriyaki sauce (which made the wrap a little soggy). Also had their homemade vegan oatmeal cookies that were amazing. Overall a very good experience and I would love to come back.
