Cooks in same oil - Edit
Vegetarian option (optionally battered quorn sausages)
Read moreVegan option falafel
Note everything cooked in same oil as the fish/meat. Pleased to see somewhere upfront about this

Said they don't do anything vegan, including chips - Edit
Went in 18/4/26 and they said they don't do anything vegan and their chips are cooked in veg oil but the same fryer as meat/fish. Not sure if they've changed since the last review??

Chips & peas - Edit
Not sure why people are putting the quorn sausages as vegan unless they've changed the menu but on the 26th June 2025 I went in and asked what was vegan and all that was available for vegans was chips n mushy peas. A bit disappointed not to have the sausage after seeing other reviews which led me to go there but the meal was nice and would go again if in Whitby.

Disappointed - Edit
They close at 7pm and we got there at just before 6.30pm and we're told they were doing takeaway only and chips only. As this is one of the few places that doesn't fry in beef dripping I got chips from here with mushy peas.
Read moreThe chips didn't have salt and vinegar and I wasn't asked if I wanted any. I added some myself before leaving but overall the chips and mushy peas were really bland and not very enjoyable.

Decent - Edit
Decent chips - they told us the sausage wasn’t vegan which was a shame but big portions of chips

What’s the Batter - Edit
A precariously positioned British chippy with fabulous views across the East Yorkshire Coastline. They have a separate veggie menu with some vegan options from which I picked the sausages. Served with chips., just a shame they weren’t battered. Very tasty though and fair value at £7 for the large portion. Shiver me timbers.

Nice chips, small vegan menu - Edit
Fish box offers chips I'm vegetable oil and a Quorn sausage (battered or not) and falafel as vegan options. Unfortunately when I visited they were out of both main options so I just got chips. Two other sets of people also asked for the vegan sausages whilst I was there so hopefully just a blip as they seemed popular.
