I shop at Santa Monica's Wednesday Farmer's Market often. There's so much offered, including lots of vendors selling fresh fruit and vegetable including organic producers, healthy breads, fresh flowers, dates, nuts, sprouts, potted herbs & plants, and an array of specialty foods.
Most stands give out free sample tastings. Can be overwhelming due to its large size but is definitely a great place to stock up on the freshest produce for the week.
Park in the mall parking structures for 2 hours free or find a metered parking space on street.
This is a really nice farmers market within walking distance of the ocean. It was just outside my accommodation (convenient!) and it was open Wednesday and Saturday.
