Todo lo que probamos vegano estaba buenísimo, especialmente la feijoada de alubias blancas y setas, impresionante. Tienen dos postres veganos también. No le doy más estrellas porque no se puede. Las porciones son un poco pequeñas pero no te quedas con hambre.

We spent an afternoon in Coimbra on our way from Porto to Lisbon and stopped into Fangas Veg for lunch before we explored. The food is Petiscos (tapas) style, all vegetarian with plenty of vegan options. Hubby and I split the black-eyed peas with coriander, figs with port wine and balsamic vinegar, and aubergine bruschetta. They were all delicious. I would love to go back if we find our way to Coimbra again! It is a very small place though, so go early or make a reservation. We were very lucky to get in, I think.

Absolutely amazing, great combination of flavors and textures, a tapas restaurant with many unique dishes. We had an avocado, tomato and roasted chickpeas bruschetta, mushroom and white bean stew, red and yellow pepper and peanut noodles and for dessert the cacao parfait. #Veganuary

Read moreFirst we went to the meat servicing section not knowing it had the veg restaurant next to it. Ok! When I read the reviews I did not realise this.
We sat by the door way section watching people go by, this was all good.
When ordering we informed we are vegan and confirmed all ‘v’ marked dishes are fully vegan. I asked couple of times as I like to be sure. This was confirmed again.
We decided to have many dishes. As these are tapas dishes we were still hungry so we thought we’ll order the ‘v’ marked bruschetta dishes.
BRUSCHETTA WITH AUBERGINE came first. I took one bite and notice a taste and texture of cheese. Close inspection it looked like Parmesan cheese. We called the waiter over, who took for ever to come and asked what the stuff was. He just took off and ran over to the meat serving part of the restaurant. Came back and told us the boss will come and explain. THE BOSS HAPPENED TO BE THE GUY WHO TOOK OUR ORDER AND CONFIRMED ALL ‘v’ ITEMS WERE FULLY VEGAN.
He apologised and said the menu is wrong it’s not vegan it’s vegetarian. WHAT ON EARTH?????
Then I asked if he was sure that the bread was vegan. Then he looked confused and said it’s just bread. Does he know all breads are not vegan??????
What other dishes did we have that was not fully vegan???
He said the beer my husband had and my tea is on the house. WHAT??????
So, tell me how many vegans have ordered this dish and trusted the establishment to know the difference between vegan & vegetarian.
This experience confirmed that I should cook even on holiday and never to trust an establishment that serves meat on one side and so called vegetarian/vegan on the other.
AND TO STICK TO FULLY VEGAN PLACES THAT UNDERSTANDS WHAT VEGAN MEANS.
Usually if the owners are vegan it is pretty safe.

Read moreThis is it. Good food that reminds you there is more to vegan food than just burgers. Not that there's anything wrong with a good burger every once in a while, but there is so much more to vegan food.
This place takes vegan food seriously. Beautiful dishes, tapas style, without compromising on flavor.
Friendly service, lovely atmosphere. Go here for a full restaurant experience. You will not regret it.

The waiter was nice too, with good advices about the wine to pair with the food.

Most of the options here are vegan. They have a very creative menu, they serve the food in little tapas so not big mains but everything I've tried was very tasty. The staff is very friendly. The interior is very small and casual but it's nice anyway.
