I was excited to try Etnosvet. The menu seemed eclectic and the atmosphere was inviting. However, when we arrived, an hour before closing, we were immediately told we would only be able to order 1 course because the kitchen was closing in 15 minutes. So we quickly looked through the menu and had to search out a server because no one seemed to want to help this happen. We found a server with 10 minutes to spare and she immediately began acting like we were causing her problems and couldn’t promise anything. So a table of 4 an hour before closing was putting her out despite ordering quickly after being seated. She then returns to the table immediately and says: our chef is Italian and says he cannot do it. ..... meaning no food can be ordered from the kitchen, the Italian but is especially confusing. For travelers who sought out a restaurant and came an hour before scheduled closing to be seated and then refused ANY food ordering options is shameful, the rude staff and hostile behavior that accompanied it is unforgivable. Perhaps better service and advertising would result in enough patrons to actually serve your scheduled hours and not kill your word of mouth. I’ll make sure to frequent the very many other restaurants of Prague and ensure other people know to do the same.
