Wonderful

Seems to be a small family business. The people working there are very wholesome and kind. They took their time to explain everything on the menu. The food was very delicious and the prices are super fair. Definitely worth a visit!

They have a nice lunch deal where you can choose a main and one, two or three side dishes.
It was served very fast and the food was delicious.

Best Vegan Food in Bologna

A lot of vegans, including me, overlook the non-vegan options in a city, but in this case, the best vegan food we had in Bologna was definitely at this vegetarian organic restaurant.

We went during brunch and while the vegan option had fewer dishes than the vegetarian one, everything was so tasty! We had a very velvety, delicious soup, and some bread with various spreads that tasted absolutely delightful. It may not sound or look like much, but everything tasted so fresh and clean that we wished we would have come here sooner.

Pros: Really friendly staff, Yummy food

Cons: Not vegan, Not many vegan options.

good

we went there for lunch. they had two options to choose from, both vegan. I liked my meal, it was healthy but nothing special. something I would quickly make at home.
the waitress spoke English.

Happy hour

We had the happy hour set menu, so for €15 each we had a plate of two starters (chard with lemon, peppers, served with bread), a main meal (I had lentil medallions, he had lasagne), and a drink (carrot juice and wine). It was all delicious, particularly the starters and juice. Staff were so friendly - taking time to explain the menu to us as it wasn’t in English, which was very sweet. Lovely relaxing atmosphere and really not far from train station etc. So glad we checked HappyCow. Also staff weren’t aware of HappyCow - they had asked if we had a recommendation for the restaurant - so we explained the website.

Pros: Delicious food, Multiple vegan options, Friendly staff

Nice organic veg* restaurant

Nothing much to add to the previous reviews except that it has some outdoor seating. Also I'd suggest to make a reservation for the evenings.
Good selection of dishes, clearly marked vegan, gluten free. ~20 Euros per person for starter, main+wine.

Pros: Good prices, Good food

Good place

Small organic vegetarian restaurant, warm and relaxed atmosphere, attentive and friendly staff (but a bit slow service), a good price/quality ratio. Estravagario is also a fair trade cafeteria where you can find herbal teas and infusions, fresh fruit and vegetables juices, homemade snacks and desserts, with some vegan options.
I went here for dinner and my overall experience was very satisfying: I ate chestnut gnocchi with mushrooms, excellent seitan cutlets in orange sauce with mixed salad and a vegan walnut strudel. The plates change every day. Unfortunately it's not open most evenings for dinner or Sundays.

Pros: excellent food quality

Cons: opening hours

Explosion of flavours

This is my all time favourite veg restaurant in Northern Italy. I live in Milan and often travel to Bologna only to taste the succulent dishes this cosy restaurant serves. Staff and atmosphere are informal and totally unintrusive. All dishes are well presented, with mouthwatering smells and packed with flavours. Estravagario means opening up to a tasty and exquisite meal, that turns out to be very light as well. Honestly, I could never get enough.

Nice

Was a proper restaurant rather than a take away which we liked. Food was average and not that much choice. Waiter insisted on speaking to us in English no matter how much we replied in Italian desperate to practice! Waitress was very sweet though.

Pros: Proper restaurant (not take-away)

It looked good but....

From the outside, the place looked lovely and the menu sounded great. But when I arrived there (on August 1st 2011) I was totally bummed to learned that it closes for the entire month of August. It's probably safe to say that it's the same every year.

Pros: Looked great

Cons: Closed the ENTIRE month of August

Nice food, warm atmosphere

Since bologna is the land of prosciutto/ham/cheese and egg pastas (be careful to ask about lard in foccacia & certain breads), it's a nice welcome to encounter a restaurant where meat or fish is off the menu.
Though it's not vegan (eggs/dairy are used), there are enough for a vegan to dig his/her chops in and walk away satisfied.
the premise of this restaurant is organic...and coffe is fairtrade.
dining room warm and friendly...i give it a thumbs up!

Pros: decent price, nice ambiance, decent food

Cons: a bit out of the way, not vegan

Healthy, good food

We stumbled upon this restaurant while trying to find our hotel, and it was a very pleasant surprise. They made a vegan plate for us consisting of beans, a hearty grain-like pasta with vegetables, potatoes with oregano, and salad. All the vegetables were organic and tasted very fresh, and the service was great. The staff speaks some English. It would be nice if they offered vegan desserts, though they did have some good dark chocolate.

Pros: Vegan-friendly, Healthy and organic, Helpful staff

Cons: No vegan desserts

Vegan desserts are an issue in most italian restaurants.
In the autumn 2011, Estravagario offered a pumpkin mousse with chocolate, which we enjoyed very much.
