Good, but a little expensive for the portion size - Edit
Like last review, we went after visiting the Reina Sofía museum. The place is charming and has even a wall with pics of cats and dogs, even cats for adoption. The waiters were awkward and I felt mostly uneasy when addressing them.
Read moreWhen it comes to the food, the potatoes with peppers and vegan chorizo didn't have a grain of salt on them, the portion size was laughable for the 5 € it cost. The quiche and meat pie were quite tastier and the serving size reasonable. Meatballs were also tasty, but the potato puree was weird and gooey, I don't quite know how to make it taste like that.
Lastly but most importantly the cheesecake for dessert was absolutely delicious and it's the dish I enjoyed the most. Overall a nice place with some average to great food, but more expensive than it'd make you believe, and small serving sizes.

Empatia Rincon has a great selection of yummy vegan food, including paella, burgers and desserts. The service is very friendly. The space is small and cozy. Nice and creative decor. I highly recommend Empatia Rincon.

I loved the food here, taste was awesome and they got some interesting stuff like quiche, raw spaguetti, albondigas. The price is very good. The decor is very nice and relax atmosphere so definitely worth giving it a try.

The food was decent. The restaurant seemed clean. The portion was kind of small and a little pricey for what it was. The waiter seemed impatient with me even though I speak Spanish. He would just respond to me annoyed in English. I wish tipping was a thing in Spain like it is in the U.S. because it would incentivize waiters to be more attentive and polite, not to mention tips can add up to pretty good pay.

I was here in June 2018 after a visit to museo reina Sofia and passing Atocha train station it's not more than 5 min to get here. They had just opened for the evening and sometimes it seems to me as it is strange to come at opening hours in Spain, here I for sure felt like an intruding guiri when the woman rolled up the steel gate.
Read moreI ordered potatoes with albóndigas in tomato sauce which were tasting very good but unfortunately a part of the food that I think is prepared earlier had been heated which is not a problem but parts of the food was cold that is not that nice when you pay for the meal.
Next time in town I might try the place again if in the area and hope they have a better day.

No había mesa, pero nos pudimos acomodar a un lado del bar. La persona que atendía fue muy amable y el ambiente del lugar muy tranquilo y ameno. Pedimos el menú y estuvo riquísimo. Este consistía en gazpacho, paella y ensalada de frutas. Nos encantó.

Tasty, Reasonably Priced Food Near Atocha Station - Edit
My wife and I went to this restaurant for lunch. Although we usually like to order different things so we can share, we both ended ordering the daily special since we were in mood for something very Spanish (menu del dia). It consisted of choice of drink (water or alcoholic/non-alcoholic beer), gazpacho, paella and a mixed fresh fruit dessert. Everything was very good, and the portions were reasonable, especially for the price (less than $10 per person). When we arrived there wasn't really a table as everything was occupied (the restaurant isn't very big), but we were accommodated at a small table next to the bar. The service was good overall (the person attending us was very friendly), especially given that most of the time there was only one person working at the restaurant and it remained packed the entire time we were there. Even after the kitchen had closed (about a half hour before closing time), some additional people came in and were accommodated rather than being turned away after being warned that the service might be slower given that he was the only person there (the person who works the kitchen had left). An added bonus is that is very close to Atocha Station, so it's very easily reached by public transportation.

First time I had a cocido, the second time some of the best albondigas I've tried. This is real Spanish food; cruelty free while sacrificing none of the flavour. Try the biscocho, it's freaking wonderful!

We went last month to Empatia Rincon Vegano and we got there during the lunch hours just before they closed.
Read moreThey still offered us the possibility of having the lunch menu which was composed of ratatouille as a starter, "carbonara" pasta + a small dessert. The portions were small and the pasta was a little bit bland but in general we liked the food.
It opened quite recently so maybe they will improve over time.
