Mexican Vegan Food in Pike's Place Market

My husband and I went to check out El Borracho in Pike's Place. I was grateful for a vegan place in Pike's Place, as there were not many. My husband had the burrito, and I had the jackfruit taco. They make their own salsa and store it in a fridge for customers to access. My husband's burrito was big and pretty good. My taco was okay but not over the top. I did like that the food wasn't super greasy, and there were some gluten-free options. I also thought that it was nice they had a sit-down area as many places in Pike's Place do not have much of a sit-down area.

Pros: sit-down area, vegan place in Pike's Place, gluten-free options

Yum Burrito!

This is a great spot for food. It’s easy to order, quick and tasty. The portions are pretty good a d they have a few fun drinks. It’s close to Pikes market, but far enough away that it’s not crazy packed whenever I’ve gone.

Lots of great burritos

We ended up eating here twice in one day because they've had so many great burritos to try! Their chips, salsa, and guac are also delicious! The one downside is they're a bit expensive but for the location it makes sense.

Awesome fuss free Mexican tastes

I got a barbacoa taco, refried beans, and a beefy 5 layer burrito. The barbacoa was sooo juicy and flavorful, and the burrito was so nostalgic. They have a bunch of yummy salsas to choose from as well. The reviews had me skeptical but I’m so glad I stopped in.

Don’t get queso

Didn’t get much here. Just queso and salsa and weren’t really impressed with either. The chips did not taste fresh and queso was watery and flavorless.

Beef burrito—yes please!

Tasty and delicious and flavorful and so, so good. Best burrito I’ve ever had.

The only problem is the ordering. Non-vegan hubby is happy to go anywhere and eat anything as long as it’s a normal sit-down restaurant. This has QR codes to order from. We did it anyway, because I was dying for a good burrito. We spent time deciding on our order, went through the process, adding the credit card, and it wouldn’t work. The bartender was able to put our order in, no problem, but it was a frustration.

Pros: Delicious food, Ultra fast , Friendly helpful bartender

Cons: QR code ordering , Very expensive

Obsessed

Touristy? Yes. Over priced? Yes. Delicious every time? Absolutely. We stop here EVERY TIME we’re in Seattle for tacos and get burritos for our long drive home (the cheesy 5 layer shortie is our favorite). Add the queso fresco to your barbacoa taco!!!

A solid choice

Satisfactory. It won’t blow your socks off but it gets the job done. A great location and a cool dive bar feel to a vegan spot that I don’t think I’ve every experienced before.

Ok

Girl how is this so highly recommended 😭 this was just okay, we got the queso/salsa with chips, the potato poblano taco, and some sort of small impossible burrito that resembled something from Taco Bell (not derogatory)

The queso tasted like turmeric sauce and was practically inedible, the salsa tasted like gazpacho (didn't hate it but still odd) and the burrito did taste like Taco Bell, which isn't a bad thing but was still whatever and since the price didn't reflect that quality it was a bummer.

It is possible that since we're both sober, that could've had something to do with not being as into it. It could be a fun bar hangout if you drink and especially if you drink to the point where your food standards have lowered. Maybe we would also have liked it more if either of us liked meat substitutes that taste like meat, since so much of the menu seemed to be that

Afterwards we both were like I wish we hadn't wasted stomach space on that lol

Solid vegan Tex-Mex

Good take on standard Mexican fare. Order from your phone, they deliver to your table. Get drinks separately from the bar. Definitely not WFPB but hits the spot. The draft margarita was great.

Great vegan restaurant

I went here twice while on a trip to Seattle because I wanted to support an all-vegan restaurant and the food was tasty. I recommend the "salmon" burrito. It was flavorful and it's something you won't find anywhere else. The staff was friendly and they also use compostable materials. The price was a little high but on par for the area.

Pros: 100% Vegan, Delicious, Friendly staff

Vegan Mexican Restaurant Seattle

My husband and I stumbled into this restaurant that was completely vegan. It was delicious. I’m Vegan but my husband is not and he was even impressed. I got the Oshi Salmon bowl with black beans and rice. It tasted like what I remember Salmon tasting. Hubby was impressed with his Mexican chicken bowl as well. It was not a huge place but we were very happy sitting at the bar. The bartender was very efficient and personable at the same time. They do have alcohol. Close to the Market Shops down by the pier.

Honestly, kinda awful

I ate here years ago and didn't remember it being very good but saw positive reviews and wanted to try it again. Big mistake, the place was messy, food seemed like a after thought and some of it was flat out gross (the jackfruit was like a congealed mash with far too much cinnamon, basically inedible) the nachos were fine but this place should be skipped

Womp Womp Womp

I’m a takeout grrrl + I hit this place for a burrito prolly half a dozen times over the last few years + the guy who made them always came outta the kitchen + presented it to my partner like a gift. V cool. Then around springtime, it seemed like half the menu was always outta stock + I fully expected them to close. Obvs they didn’t, but the vibe changed + the menu got smaller. No more escabeche. No more red chili sauce. But they did add a “gabacho af soft taco” + the pic is like 75% iceberg lettuce + idk if they’re trolling tourists or what, but it’s cringe. I see ppl praising their house-made chips, but their takeout menu says they serve Juanita’s. Against my better judgement, I decided to try the papas y poblanos burrito + it was understuffed + underseasoned + mostly rice + some bits were dried out + hard. I’m out.

Pretty good!

This was my second visit to El Borracho, and this visit was better than the first. The food was great both times, but our service was wasn't ideal the first time. This time, everything went smoothly, the food was tasty, and we really enjoyed our visit. Sure, it's a little pricey because of the location, but that's what you get if you're in such a touristy area. I'm glad it's there and would happily return.

Pros: Nice range of vegan Mexican items, All vegan

Cons: Service is so-so, A little pricey

Mixed bag

Had the barbacoa taco which was amazing. I had the salmon taco which I did not like because it tasted so much like salmon. I couldn’t believe how fishy it was. Also not a good place to take kids they have no high chairs. You can only order alcohol if you are seated in the 21 and older area.

Meh food

Good location but food just average (if that) and pricey for what you get. The ordering is weird and the atmosphere odd- not cool dive bar kind of odd, just odd.
Bathroom is an all use, there is only one and it’s right, I mean right next to tables- watch your step going in and the toilet is one step in.

Pros: Totally vegan

Cons: Ordering awkward , Seating awkward , Price.

Bar that reluctantly serves food

The food was okay; good ingredients tossed together a bit sloppily (for example, burrito was not folded closed and leaked from ends, and one half was all beans while the other half had all the other stuff). The price definitely reflects the downtown location, it’s not a good value.

The major downside is the environment if you’re just coming for food. This place wants to be a dive bar not a restaurant. There are many strange rules that make it difficult to order food and enjoy a meal, such as kids only allowed in one small area, must order through your phone with no help from staff, very rude staff who only want to serve drinks at bar. Bad music is blasting and they only have disposable plates/etc.

Sadly I don’t recommend coming here unless everyone in your party is 21 and looking to order drinks.

Pros: All vegan, Location convenient for tourists, Has bathroom

Cons: Unpleasant atmosphere , Expensive per amount/quality of food

Convenient location but food is average

You find yourself a table and then have to order food via the QR code. While that's an efficient system, my food took 30 minutes to arrive. And I suspect that's only because I followed up with the staff. The jackfruit bowl I had was decent - the black beans were very good but the jackfruit was a bit underwhelming. Convenient location and it's great to see an all vegan place but I wouldn't eat here again.

Convenient and Delicious

Great spot to get some good, guaranteed vegan food on the market! It was my first time having vegan salmon and I cannot believe how similar it tastes to the real thing. My head is still spinning from how good that rice bowl was. The chips are also homemade and delicious! Can't go wrong with anything on the menu.

$7 dollar taco?!?!??

$7 dollars for a single taco is crazy. That being said, just get a burrito or a bowl! It’s solid food, everything is 0 plant based, and it’s situated right by pikes place so I can see this being amazing for tourists.

Pros: %100 Plant Based

Cons: $7.00 for one, singular, taco???

Excellent food

Everything here is vegan - we went with two non-vegan friends and they said their food was excellent. My husband and I split the nachos with barbacoa on top (made from fermented soy). Our friends had burritos - one with salmon made from chickpeas and seaweed. They both agreed it really tasted like salmon.

Pros: We all loved our food, Good margaritas too, Outside seating so we could bring our dog

Cons: QR code didn’t work - ordered inside.

Good location

This place has a great location, and friendly staff. But the tacos were overpriced, 7.50 for one taco (I had the jackfruit), and I didn't think it was too flavourful and in my opinion the texture of the jackfruit was overly combined (kind of mushed together). Although we did also order chips and guacamole and the guacamole and salsa was good. There were also other salsas and hot sauce you could grab from the fridge. My friend ordered the burrito and really enjoyed it. So maybe I just chose wrong!

Pros: Location, Friendliness of staff

Cons: Pricing
